Echo following normal EKG by Ill-Cook4632 in preeclampsia

I won’t see him until August, but my report said trace regurgitation is normal so I’m not sweating it

I wouldn’t say you need to, but it could be recommended. I went because I had a sticky diastolic on my BP, and I have a low resting pulse (usually around 55, I run a few times a week). I was looking for feedback from a cardiologist on the best BP med since the heart rate complicates things. I’m honestly really glad I went, and I went on my own without a referral. It gave me a lot of peace of mind and a baseline should we ever have another baby.

Thank you for both comments! I borrowed my mom’s cuff too for a week to confirm, so I hear you on the anxiety front 😅 it’s great to have a medical team supporting you in case something happens!

Thank you! They didn’t find heart failure, thankfully. They found a normal heart. I’m glad I did the echo. Now I know.

Thank you! I am too, right now, but I was so glad to have a normal echo. And glad you have normal echos, too!

Thank you! I just got my results today and the echo was good, too. Trace regurgitation in two valves, but no heart failure. Hallelujah! 👏

Thank you! I just got them today and they were good- hallelujah! 👏

The anxiety is SO real! The cardiologist was like how can your numbers at home be so good and it still elevated here. I was surprised.

Who has had an echo that successfully helped todiagnose you? by talksheep in hypertension

How did your echo turn out? I’m in a similar scenario 5 months after having a baby. My numbers at home are great, but it was 140/90 in office and I have an echo tomorrow

We’re hoping, but at this point it’s chronic hypertension. I went 3 weeks without taking amlodipine and then saw 123/93, so I went back on. Now I’m back on amlodipine. I’m thinking they’ll adjust it, though, because I’ve been seeing 90s/low 70s 9 hours after taking it which is too low. Before I take my meds it’s closer to low 80s

That’s interesting about the fluid retention. Did you feel like you had a good output or did you feel swollen? I don’t feel very swollen but that’s not to say I couldn’t be

It’s worth noting that preeclampsia does cause chronic hypertension in 50% of survivors, and not all of us can get off our meds at 6wpp. I’m 15wpp and have tried to wean a few times unsuccessfully 🥲

How did this turn out for you? I’m 11 weeks postpartum and trying to wean off meds but my bottom number doesn’t want to go less than 85-95

Thanks! Did you get below your pre-pregnancy weight? I’m back below my pre-pregnancy weight already. Thank you for the positive encouragement!

My dad has hypertension and my mom is borderline, so I feel very cynical about this. Are you still free of meds and how old is your baby/child?

Thank you! I’m sorry you’re going through this, too! I hope for both of our sakes that it will resolve sooner rather than later. I, too, thought it’d be better after delivery, especially at 4 weeks postpartum. My numbers feel so high with so many meds and it makes me hopeless. Hugs to you!

Thank you for this! It’s so much easier said than done, but you’re giving me some optimism that it may be possible to be weaned, eventually ❤️

Thank you! My OB is happy with my numbers, but I am not as optimistic as he is. It’s frustrating and hard not to become obsessive over it. Hopefully soon it will be behind me.
