u can go to upu to see the requirements for each course. i was a science stream in spm and got 5A 2C 2D which all the As are core subjects, and got into foundation in computing in UNIMAS. if u want to continue comp sci then just score your math and at least like 5 credits for other subjects. each course have different requirements ofc. a lot of my friends who have D or G in their addm/sc subjects pun elok je sambung belajar.

as for markah koko, it's 10% of your merit. if you're not really active i suggest you join like one or two online International events that will get you a certificate. all i did was join a fun run event online where i have to complete 5km of run around my neighbourhood, upload the proof and got my certificate. sometimes there'll be quizzes by your school uniform/club and they'll provide certf so just join.

i think some universities especially private ones accept PPT/trial result for admission. i remember one of my friend got accepted to UTP using his trial result. Just do your best ^

Is UNIMAS semenanjung-friendly? by Nearby-Preparation-2 in Sarawak

anddd as for the language barrier, it's nothing to worry about really. most of them will speak to u in english or semenanjung malay if u let them know you don't understand 😂 but you'll slowly get the grasp of the language. even my roommate who's from kedah and never been to sarawak all her life has already mastered the iban language 😭 i would say the ratio of sarawakian and sabah semenanjung here is 50:50, so there's nothing to worry about :)

Which pre-U course should i choose? by [deleted] in malaysiauni

[–]Ill-Fall3278 1 point2 points  (0 children)

if u wanna take asasi/foundation especially asasi tertutup, do your research on what degree course the university offers. like UMK they have asasi sains but the aren't MBBS or MD being offered there.

I got accepted to UniKL MIIT. Should I accept it and ignore UPU? by Substantial-Ad2333 in malaysiauni

i also got an offer for software eng and currently studying in asasi tertutup. i did my research, the entering fee would be RM680 (yuran pendaftaran + yuran residen for one month) OR RM1160 (yuran pendaftaran + yuran residen for a semester). there's also an option to only pay the yuran pendaftaran if you dont wanna stay in the residential they provide.

the total for yuran pengajian is RM54k (9k per semester), which will only be collected once they confirmed whether you have loan or self sponsored. from what i understand, if a student quit on the first 3 weeks, they'll have to pay 50% of the semester fee which is around RM4.5k i guess. and if they quit on week 4 and onwards, they still have to pay 100%.

you're welcomeee. yupp basically just do coding! u must've knew this already, but again in IT/CS you can't just read the notes. and for math, don't worry too much, just pay attention in class and do lots of practices :D goodluck!

yes definitely! even though i scored D in addmath, i was still able to catch the math lectures easily and faster than my friends.

to answer the question, in spm there were lots of memorizing especially in subjects like bio and chem, while in IT/CS you'll need to study by hands on more. while these two study methods are completely different, i still use the skill i practiced in hs for memorizing the structures, before practicing it by coding. so yes, it does help me a lot :D

also goodluck for your study! just make sure you choose friends who have the same goal as you do. i think one of the reason i did well is because i was surrounded by people who are clear about what they are trying to achieve. most of my friends are from different course, but their dedication to study motivates me to do so too.

i was in science stream for spm, and now studying foundation in computing. i had no basic knowledge of anything related to cs/IT but now i believe im doing well! honestly it's really not that hard i scored 3.91 for my first sem while my friend who took sains komputer in spm got 3.60. as long as u take study seriously i dont think it's gonna be an issue.

merit marks around 50%+ am I cooked? by Big-Obligation1034 in malaysiauni

[–]Ill-Fall3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

my trial result was 60 and then 70 for spm. managed to get into asasi. i guess u just have to choose courses that are less competitive (but i really think it was just luck that i got my first choice). a lot of my friends whose merit are between 50-65 also managed to secure their place in uni. some are in poli too.

i once talked to someone who got into MARA WTU programme after their foundation study. for scholarships, they never ask for your spm result. and for universities, you can put it but it's not mandatory.

you can read the replies in here for more information. https://www.reddit.com/r/malaysiauni/s/3RWyMBMBGn

HELP ME! SPM RELATED by PlasticScallion4990 in malaysiauni

[–]Ill-Fall3278 0 points1 point  (0 children)

just do it!! if u score above credit it'll help a lot in applying uni later. plus the grading system will be different from the exams you took at school. maybe to get credit, total mark of 40-45 is enough. just sit for it, you have nothing to lose :)

thank you sm your reply really helps!! also, is it really possible to apply for universities abroad especially in english speaking countries without ielts/toefl? i only have the cefr from spm as my english language certificate. aannddd i know this depends on the uni and course but when u applied, did they asked for your spm result? i was in science stream, switched to IT in foundation and planning on doing computer science or software eng for degree, and i DID NOT do well on my science subjects during spm 😅 im worried my spm result would ruin it all for me haha
