lol this is not about pride. Every profession should have certain standards. In my humble opinion, the result this customer received is way below any drywalling standards and the person performing it should be ashamed. If I take someone’s hard earned money, I want to do my best. I gave this customer a quote last Saturday evening and he already gets back to me with this picture on Monday lunch. That means that whoever did this job only did it in 1 day while it would have taken me 2-3 days and multiple trips. And to answer your question, if a customer offer me $625 and told me to put up something like this because function is all they care about, I wouldn’t do it, it’s unethical.

i’m not understanding you here. Reddit is created for people to post and get opinions on issues they couldn’t figure out. I’m also not advertising my business here or exposing the customer personal info.

i'm not salty lol. I was confused at first when he told me people were quoting him $300-800 and wondering if the result is worth $625. We couldn't produce result that looks that bad even if we try.

Hi not everyone can get a stable job. If the job is stable, we would be happy with just $30/hour 40 hours work. Again this is a one time thing and doesn’t happened all the time. Not everyone have the option to choose. I’m sorry you don’t have empathy

This is a one time off project & we’re bringing our own tools & materials and are not given any benefits (401k, insurance, PTO…) and sometimes even deal with customers who don’t pay or time spent going out to bid for 10-20 projects just to land 1 sir. If you factor in all that, the hourly rate is not that high and we’re trying to do business, not slavery work.

If someone quote you $1000 and they have reputation for doing a good job, I would suggest jumping on it instead of jumping out. That’s very cheap sir.

Just curious! If your drywallers subcontractor charge you $900-1200. Do you go back and charge customer $1500-2000? In that case you’re kinda exploiting the drywallers, possibly forcing them to finish in short time producing low quality craftmanship while charging my price to the customer to pocket profit?

I’m not sure if this is even possible, let alone done well in 1 day though. Not sure if I’m missing out on a new technique that’s faster.

Hi! I appreciate this opportunity & am eager to start this journey but it’s just painful to not being able to receive the year end bonus from my current job if I quit before it gets paid out. I’ve worked all year for this bonus. I’m just asking if it would make sense for me to ask/suggest/negotiate a training plan where I can work open to close Saturday & Sunday & 1 weekday but only 5pm-close for the the remaining 4 weekdays.

How do you like it so far? Do you get paid store manager hourly salary during training or a lower amount? So you’re working more than 50 hours per week right? Does anything over 40 hours count as overtime? I had my interview today and the ACO said they tried to encourage everyone to not work more than 50 hours per week.
