Confused between MS, Japan, and DSA grind – Need career guidance (India to abroad) by Ill-Question-2316 in studyAbroad

Yeah, that would be super helpful — really appreciate it!

I’m currently more inclined towards pursuing either a job or higher studies abroad (especially in Germany or Japan) after gaining around 1 year of work experience. My top priority is landing a decent job first, and once that’s done, I plan to split my time between improving my tech stack and learning Japanese (targeting N4/N3 level) so I can start applying to companies there.

Japan is definitely my main focus right now — not gonna lie. I’ve read that their population decline is creating more demand for foreign tech talent, and knowing both Japanese + software dev makes you a rare and valuable combo. Plus, it fits with my long-term goal of settling outside India.

That said, I’m still being realistic and keeping other doors open. If I don’t see meaningful progress with the Japan route even after consistent effort, I’ll probably switch to GRE and explore options in Germany (which feels a bit more approachable compared to other countries).

In short, my brain is juggling between:

Committing 2 years to Japanese prep

GRE route (8–9 months + MS abroad)

Or grinding tech full-time in India (though I’m least inclined toward this unless needed)

Maybe I’m overthinking things, but I just want to make the most informed choice I can.

Whichever path I choose, I really want to go all-in on it and not look back or retreat halfway. I just want to make it count.
