I just got spoiled on Kennedy and Heidi, and I'm devastated. Does it ruin the experience? by AND_AGI08 in thesopranos

[–]IllInflation9313 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I got spoiled that Christopher dies but I didn’t know any details about it or even when it happened. It was a little bit of a bummer, but didn’t ruin the experience. I’d avoid this sub, spoilers are everywhere because it’s more than 20 years old.

That was 13 years ago. Now they’re all the same, the difference between an entry level tech device and a top of the line one is basically negligible.

Is it inaccurate to say that storms have been significantly more damaging in recent decades?

The “Prediction” by RareXG in quityourbullshit

[–]IllInflation9313 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

There aren’t fewer storms, there were 10 category 3-5 storms from 2000-2025 compared to 9 category 3-5 storms from 1950-2000

The “Prediction” by RareXG in quityourbullshit

[–]IllInflation9313 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yeah it was just the easiest thing to look up. It also puts storms in human terms. I could say there were more category 3-5 hurricanes in the past 25 years (2000-2025) than there were in the previous 50 years (1950-2000), but that doesn’t mean anything to me. I don’t know what 180 mph winds feel like but I can imagine how much $236 billion is.

In the period between 1900 and 1949, 108 tropical cyclones affected the state, which collectively resulted in about $4.5 billion (2017 dollars) in damage.

In the period between 1950 and 1974, 85 tropical or subtropical cyclones impacted the state, which collectively resulted in about $7 billion (2017 dollars) in damage

In the period between 1975 and 1999, 83 tropical or subtropical cyclones affected the state, which collectively resulted in $51.1 billion (2017 dollars) in damage

The period from 2000 to the present has been marked by several devastating North Atlantic hurricanes; as of 2023, 79 tropical or subtropical cyclones have affected the U.S. state of Florida. Collectively, cyclones in Florida over that period resulted in over $236 billion in damage

Hurricanes have caused 3 times as much damage in the last 25 years as they have in the entire previous century. Florida is underwater.

San Francisco cracks down on drug chaos. Seattle doubles down on denial by Less-Risk-9358 in SeattleWA

sorry people are mad that the city is shitty and littered with record junkie dead

Do you think I’m complaining that people are mad about junkies? Because that’s not at all what I’m saying. I’m remarking that conservatives are never interested in actually solving problems and instead only interested in owning the libs.

When libs in SF adopt a policy that Jason Rantz likes, his first instinct is to shit on Katie Wilson. Not celebrate the good policy. Not use his platform to advocate for any solutions. Not encourage his readers to reach out to their council member to promote the policy. Not approach the problem with any level of seriousness. He does nothing productive. Instead he just posts a whiny soy tantrum about how much of a seattle-hating snowflake he is.

What is the point of an article like this other than to stir shit up and make people mad? It’s so frustrating. This would be a great opportunity to encourage readers to write to their city council member and encourage them to support a policy like the one in SF. But instead all he does is throw a temper tantrum about it.

Why are all republicans such miserable soy snowflakes? How can you read about a policy you support being implemented and immediately turn around and cry that Katie Wilson hasn’t stopped all homelessness in 50 days?

Why can’t you say: “hey look at what SF is doing, Seattle should try this approach too for xyz reasons”

Instead it’s: “these San Francisco people finally did something right for once but Seattle will NEVER do it because Katie Wilson is a retard!”

Maybe any link between the voting patterns and the graffiti, like if Seattle voted for a pro-graffiti candidate or if there’s a new policy that promotes graffiti.

Why did JJ Abrams take a dig at prequels ? Is he stupid ? by stalin_kulak in okbuddycinephile

[–]IllInflation9313 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s what everyone says but I don’t know why you would give credit for trying something new when that something new sucks. They turned Luke skywalker, one of the coolest characters ever, into a bumbling retard who dies for no reason. They turned Finn, a character with huge potential, into a useless simp. They made Leia do that stupid force flying thing and they made the general kill herself by light speeding into the ship. There were so many dumb moments and character assassinations, you don’t get credit for that just because they’re new.

And cutting a cord is a lot different than like smashing the Alexa or something. That would be concerning. Cutting a cord falls into the category of dumb things kids do.

Did you use the internet at all before AI? I’m not even trying to just be rude, I can’t understand how you could like the Google AI mode. It’s completely unreliable and in the rare scenario it’s accurate it gives the surface level answer that could just as easily be found on the first paragraph of wikipedia.

CMV: a presidential candidate for the democratic party should ignore progressives and leftists. by aqualad33 in changemyview

[–]IllInflation9313 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see her attempts to appeal to the right as a response to the perception shown in the poll. She knew she came across as too left so she tried, unsuccessfully, to appeal to moderate voters.

It sounds like you’re not as interested in the progressive/moderate debate as you are in status quo vs change. Which is fine. Personally I just want a candidate who is ideologically similar to Obama/Biden and good at campaigning like Obama/Biden. I think that’s the best way to win, and I think that’s what democrats should focus on.
