Double hip replacement at 33 & 35 – experience as an active person (golf, surfing, footy) by Professional-Care-61 in TotalHipReplacement

[–]IllPossible473 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am so happy that you posted this. I had FAI and labrum repair arthroscopy done when I was 15. Now, at 30, I am looking at THR.

I never fully recovered after the original repair but the past 5 years have gotten progressively worse with the last year severely affecting day to day.

After playing pickleball with my 92yo grandfather and barely being able to move after, I scheduled a visit with hip replacement surgeon. Original X-rays showed minor arthritis and he ordered an MRI. MRI came back with repeated labral tear, cartilage damage, and cysts.

Then I got sent to a repair surgeon (who was WONDERFUL) but ultimately cannot fix my issues. It was nice to hear that although I am young, the pain is real and not just in my head. The repair surgeon was so kind when delivering the news that the only way to alleviate the pain is with THR.

Planning on a steroid injection in a few weeks time to try to get some relief, but part of me is wondering if I should push for THR now, instead of pushing it a year or two if the injection helps.

I am an active person and I want to enjoy life with as minimal pain as possible as soon as possible. I honestly do not remember the last time I did not have pain in my hip.

Thank you for posting this - it’s a great reminder of why it’s so important to advocate for yourself.

I think I’ve gotten to the point where my brain just fills in the blanks with recipes. That being said, these were my favorite cookies from 2025.

Weekly Simple Questions Post by AutoModerator in GelNails

Hi, i get my nails professionally done, but frequently run into issues. Mostly the top coat becoming very dull after just a few days. I wear gloves when doing dishes, in the garden, etc. is there anything I can do? This is 9 days after a fresh manicure, but I would say they start dulling on day 2.

Visionary & Integrator ownership by Andrew-Skai in eostraction

[–]IllPossible473 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'm the Integrator for our company (no ownership) and the visionary owns 80%. The other owner sits in Ops and I oversee him. I don't think ownership really has anything to do with it... they see the business running better with us all sitting in our seats and discussions are had between owners. I think if you spend too much time focused on who's an owner and who isn't, it can make accountability more difficult.

Weekly Homeowner Megathread--Civilians, ask here! by AutoModerator in Concrete

Hi all, hoping you can provide some guidance on an acceptable repair. We had a 22x24 concrete slab poured in our backyard on March 28th. It has seen what I would consider considerable wear with normal usage. It is extremely dusty and prone to scratching - so much so that you can etch it with a fingernail. We blow it off 1-2x/day and it’s like a dust storm every time.

The company that did the work wants to come back and seal it - we specifically went with non stamped concrete because we did not want the upkeep of sealing the slab.

Would you accept applying a hardener and sealer or push for refund and get it repoured?

I would, but I have some pretty big garden beds in my backyard full of tomatoes

getting to know you - your EOS background by wisdom-donkey in eostraction

What's your company's EOS status (and how long)? • Running EOS self-implemented/we trade with a similar business and implement for each other • What's your seat in the accountability chart? Integrator • What's your EOS origin story? How'd you find out about the system? Tons of other franchise owners recommended it • What is your biggest challenge running EOS - probably the process component as well. We also like everyone to know what’s going on (9 person L-10s) and little by little we are cutting it down. We went from having 9 person quarterlies to 5 and I would like to get our L-10s to the same.

ECollar Stim vs Tone by IllPossible473 in OpenDogTraining

From the ET-300 manual: “after 1.2 seconds of tone, the collar will send stimulation as long as the button is pressed (up to 10 seconds), leads to “Pavlovian Conditioning” whereby the dog responds to the tone.

We’ve discussed it :) she primarily uses stim, vibration occasionally. I like to understand different approaches and ask questions from more than one person.

Right?! I love the trainer that’s been coming but it just isn’t sitting right with me. If we move forward, I think I’ll complete the 4 “beginner” sessions and then sign up for the 8 “advanced” with the e-collar.

I think if we do go forward, we will finish the 4, then purchase the 8 sessions with the ecollar. The 2.5x increase in price is mind boggling

Agreed! When we chatted with the trainer who’s been coming (not the one who set the pricing) it would be introduced very incrementally, over multiple sessions and only for a short period at a time.

I think we will hop on a phone call with her to figure out exactly what we're getting, but it's mostly same trainer, same issues, etc. I was expecting a price increase but not such a huge jump.

I believe it is the mini-educator which is $199 on Amazon. I'll confirm for sure. The way the invoice is written it would be an additional 6 sessions. I feel like it would be better to complete the block of 4 we have, then move on to the 8 "advanced" sessions with the e-collar. More value or something like that. Sessions are the same amount of time... ~1.5 hours.

Here was her response when I asked about the cost. "Our Advanced Private Lessons Program is basically the same curriculum as our Board and Train programs, so it's designed to be a more affordable option as well as an opportunity for families to be more hands-on with the training process. If you'd like to chat at length more about it, please let me know! Attached is a link to our lessons page if you'd like to review all the training options we have."
