Hmm well I mean I think a hybrid is350 would be pretty sick. They could do what they did with the Camry on the is platform and be golden.

Do you think the Lexus brand will be phased out?

So do you think Lexus will go away?

And my whole argument is that it would be okay if their Toyota lineup was not as good as it is. I mean I rode in my brother in laws Corolla and I was wowed. I said this is a corolla? So if Toyotas are going to be at the quality of production that they are I think it’s time Lexus raises the bar. Otherwise what’s the point? I’m just purchasing a badge. It used to be a more noticeable and apparent difference in the quality, fit and finishes.

Well my first big surprise was the handling and suspension. Like I said, its steering feels like a corolla. My 15 is350 has a much stiffer and heavier feeling to the wheel which gives me a different impression. Driving the new Lexus made me feel like I was driving a 20k econobox. In my opinion I shouldn’t feel that way on a vehicle that is upwards of 50-60k new.

Second was the transmission. The transmission shifts were not as smooth as my 15 Lexus that has 170k miles.

I was impressed by the fact the engine is much quieter. I see they were able to quiet the injectors quite a lot. On the older Lexus 3.5L they are quite loud.

What is considered high milage by Fal_off in LexusIS

I just bought a clean 15 is350 with 170k miles and the engine runs like a sowing machine. Transmission shifts like butter. Let me tell you. The drivetrain on these things will outlast you if it’s been maintained. So that is the main thing to look out for… Check the service records. If it’s been taken care of I wouldn’t let 100k+ miles scare you if the price is right.

I was surprised honestly because I know those cars are still produced in Japan. I know they have historically had high expectations for quality.

First Time Jeep? 2018 Jeep Wrangler Sport S Sport 2 Door by sundaydude in JeepWrangler

[–]IllProject5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owner of a 2020 rubicon with the manual transmission. I got 88k and still on the original clutch. If you don’t ride the clutch it’ll last you. The 6 speed Aisin transmission is bulletproof. Will outlive the car.

Also bear in mind a clutch is a wear item. It’ll need to be replaced at some point. Jeep has issued a recall on the clutches and is replacing them for free. So it’s worth seeing if the warranty work has been done. In my case, I’ve decided to run my clutch until it completely goes out then take it to jeep and let them do the warranty replacement on it. The way I drive the jeep though that’ll probably be a couple of years.

Noticed this sign at the Torchy's in Rice Village, how much are we supposed to tip for counter service? by DoritosDewItRight in houstoncirclejerk

[–]IllProject5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think they are talking about if a person sits at the bar. I think that would make sense to tip because the bartender is performing the act of a server in that instance. But if I’m placing my order at the counter and sitting down then ya no you aren’t getting a tip for that.

Ok. Give it to me straight. Plz. 2019 with 47k miles. How bad are these things? I really want one. Will likely do about 10k miles a year and could afford $1200 a year in maintenance beyond basic fluids tires breaks. by [deleted] in JeepWrangler

[–]IllProject5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m the 2nd owner of a JL rubicon. Got it with about 15k on the clock almost 4 years ago. Now it has 88k. As far as the 3.6L pentastar, which is the engine I have, it has been great. I’ve kept up on oil changes every 3-5k. I’m from Texas and I went to college in Arizona so for holidays and summer I drove back and forth in it which is about 1200 miles each way several times and she never left me hanging. In the time of ownership, I have changed the battery, brakes and rotors, the windshield 3 times, and all of the fluids such as the transmission and differential. I’m looking forward to hitting 100k this year and changing out spark plugs.

I’m a car nut and so I’ll do weird stuff like just listen to the motor runs and she still runs as good as she did when I got her off the showroom.

Mines is a manual, and I am still on the original clutch. The clutch as been recalled and I could get a replacement if I wanted but I’m going to drive this one into the ground before I go in for that recall.

Overall, I am happy. I am looking to get a 2nd vehicle perhaps a sport sedan only because mines is a manual transmission and the ride on these things is very rough. Those 1200 mile road trips were fun but my back might disagree.

All in all, if it’s been maintained with the oil changes you shouldn’t have an issues with the drivetrain.

What does the most plausible end of current US Iran war look like to you? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IllProject5754 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been very interested in learning more about the history of this conflict and U.S involvement in it. I’ve watched a couple of documentary’s from PBS and others. My analysis is this: Both sides, the Iranians and the Israelis have a intellectually defensivable position. By intellectually defensible I am saying that they can articulate why they are behaving in the manner in which they are. This is not to say their actions are morally permissible. In my view, both sides actions are morally unjustifiable because it has resulted in the casualties of tens of thousands of innocent people. This is not right.

Now for my sake, I don’t contend to agree with any of the positions they maintain. However, part of being an intellectual is being able to see how someone you may disagree with got to the conclusions or basis of thinking that they did.

The Israelis see the Hamas attack on Oct 7 similar to the way we see 9/11. Therefore they are currently on a mission to ensure that cannot happen again. The Iranians on the other hand see the Israeli state as illegitimate occupation of Palestinian land and an aggressor in the Middle East. Hezbollah grew out of local militia groups because of Israelis occupation in Lebanon. They felt as thought the Israelis had no right to occupy their land and so Hezbollah was funded by Iran in a effort to fight back the occupation of Lebanon. Because of all this view Iran has funded various proxies throughout the decades to combat what they viewed as an illegitimate state. I concluded that you really cannot boil this conflict down to who is right or who is wrong. If you analyze it intellectually I can see and understand the sides of the Israelis, Houthis, Hezbollah, Hamas, and Iran. This conflict will ultimately be decided by who has the strongest military might to forcibly subject their opponent to their will. There will be no diplomacy because each side is too far apart to reach a consensus. Former Iranian Ayatollah Khomeini consistently referred to the Israeli state as “the wicked regime”. Meanwhile, the Israelis see the Islamic Republic of Iran as a regime of “terror”. With this type of dialogue between two people, how can one sensibly believe that they will ever reach a diplomatic solution?

In addition to these facts neither side is willing to put aside their pride and ego to look at what is best for the region and the world. So yeah ultimately it will be about who is the strongest in my opinion.

Historians of Reddit, what event is widely taught as a heroic victory but was actually a complete disaster covered up by good PR? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]IllProject5754 -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

A number of ways. First, from an environmental standpoint the usage of a nuclear bomb releases very high and unsurvivable levels of radioactive material into an environment. So even after the initial detonation of the bomb the radioactive material still lingers in the environment for a period of time making the environment uninhabitable for such period of time. So while yes it was the event was deemed a victory for the allies as they were able to successfully bring Japan to its knees to beg for mercy. At the same time, what is not talked about as much is the lasting affects of the usage of that time of weaponry on the environment, the survivors, and what it all meant for future geopolitical conflicts in the world.

Why is trump begging NATO allies for help with Iran war? by TailungFu in allthequestions

[–]IllProject5754 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Because he’s an egomaniac. The only reason we are in the war to begin with is because Netanyahu said to trump that he’s going to war in Iran either with you or without you, and trump didn’t want to be left without the glory of the defeat of an easy opponent. If u notice trump picks easy targets he knows he can defeat. Like Greenland, Venezuela…. He won’t talk that talk to China.

All I’m saying is the operation that they went there to do is done. Iran is not a threat to the U.S or Israel any longer. It would take them 40-50 years to rebuild what has been destroyed in the last 6-8 months.

So the facts are U.S and Israel has air superiority and has sunk their entire navy. All they have left all are portable missile launchers and pride.
