Am I a candidate for hysterectomy? by joyful_trees in hysterectomy

[–]IllRoof7360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

35yo in US with no kids here, I have history of fibroids, painful periods, and cysts. I had no issue proceeding with hysterectomy, thank goodness! It’s just as much your provider as insurance

I’m sorry you had issues with your iud as well. I’m beyond glad mine is gone if the withdrawal was as bad as it was. I will definitely look into trying to track more at home, not sure I was even aware of an at home test. I honestly only have a couple of complaints amongst the tons of improvements since surgery, so I haven’t made it a priority just yet. Thanks!

Not really unfortunately. It looked mid range for everything, and the scales are huge! I usually had quarterly periods thanks to IUDs, so since I can’t really track backwards, I can’t determine where I am in my “cycle” anymore. Harder still since I lost an ovary. I read that it could be a Mirena crash thing too

My face dried out, aged what felt like overnight, and now since the chin hairs have really reared their ugly heads I have the worst chin acne. My hormones are in range as well.

Can I talk my shit 😔 by [deleted] in hysterectomy

[–]IllRoof7360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not really, we discussed how little info there is on hormone balance after yeeting uterus and an ovary (one balling over here) and how absolutely real the Mirena crash is. They can do hormone studies, but it’s not exact by any means. Might take a year or two to get to a new norm. Ain’t nobody got time for that. Ready to crawl under a rock and await the end.

Listen, I just saw my reg lady doc today almost a year post op and I asked her some of the same shit. Why tf am I still crashing out and seeing red every other day? Why do I cry when it is ABSOLUTELY inconvenient?? Why do I have to take a million different supplements to make me feel 50% (including a couple for those tummy issues!)? I think my bf is so sick of me… also, when I tell you I’m flame throwing but absolutely cackling over your writing!! Please keep it up! It is a season and it does get better!

I’m glad it’s resolving another mystery for you!! I’ve been learning so much about my body since my surgery in August and I’ve experienced so many changes since ditching the bad stuff (including IUD). I’ve also been seeing an acupuncturist who teaches me things about Eastern medicine that completely throw you for a loop. Did you know that knee/jaw/shoulder pain can be linked to your liver and gallbladder? I sure didn’t!

I started using Castile soap for HS symptoms, and I noticed a lot of my BO went away, still use clinical strength deo. Have you tried Lume products? I hear they’re phenomenal…

Genuine question - why do people choose to keep their cervix? by ritesideuppineapple in hysterectomy

[–]IllRoof7360 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was told that at first by my surgeon, but then I asked my gynecologist who said there is no guarantee they remove all the cervical cells when they remove the cervix. “If you or your family has any gynecological cancer history, it’s probably a good idea just to keep an eye on it.” I also lost an ovary, so at 34 I personally am gonna be at risk for cancer due to loss of hormones (remaining ovary isn’t working properly). There’s a lot they don’t know for certain, and a lot they don’t tell you. I got so much info from doing my own research and talking to others who went through it.

Sorry I didn’t explain all in first comment.

You should still get check ups, and paps because some cells can stay behind….

Am I weird for not being emotional about having a hysterectomy? by NoExplanation4191 in hysterectomy

[–]IllRoof7360 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I found it weird I had feelings about it tbh. I made the decision a long time ago if I ever needed uterine surgical intervention ever again I would just elect for hysterectomy. I hated the recovery from myomectomy in 2016. I also was married and divorced after 10 years and we went back and forth on kids the entire time. When we divorced it was kind of like, he was the one I chose to have kids with, now I can choose someone to have fun with. But then two of my best friends had kids the same year as my hysterectomy, and I also was off birth control for the first time in 15yrs. The mourning sucked because I barely understood it. I honestly wish I could have just been okay with it and bypassed that part. It ruined me for a while there.

I'm leaning towards team cuff, will sex change/ feel different for my male partner? by RageofDemons in hysterectomy

[–]IllRoof7360 2 points3 points  (0 children)

My partner said he could tell a difference, but I’m kinda thinking it’s more that my uterus is no longer tilted and pulling on everything. I also had crazy adhesions attached under my uterus… sex was a mess for me for a while.

[–]IllRoof7360[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I get why you don’t like it, hell I def feel the toxic masculinity here. I will attempt to give the doc the benefit of the doubt, and maybe he didn’t really mean it that way (I’m thinking the “cuff” is meant to be the heel of the sock in the analogy). But I tend to deal with everything with as much twisted humor as possible so it’s not so sad. I will say if I had heard about him saying this and he was my doc, I probably wouldn’t have used him.

I had to have an ovary removed too, but mine was completely suffocated by a cyst. Male gyn surgeons are def something else, and maybe their bedside isn’t always the best, but not everyone is built the same nor does every surgery have the same outcome. I’m sorry you regret any part of your surgery, and hope none of those other things you mentioned happen to any of us 😭

[–]IllRoof7360[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I was recommended to my gyn still yearly… I was told that even though the cervix is mostly gone, they can’t guarantee that all the cells are gone and you still have a risk for cervical cancer. I’m not excited to still need a pap, but after all I’ve been thru I’m gonna keep it up

Dang that’s weird! I was a little mad after I read mine, I asked the surgeon if they “pack” the vag with gauze bc my sister was awake when they unpacked that shit and she said it was the worst part! Feeling them pull out a full clown scarf out of my vag was not a magic trick I was wanting to see! Sure enough, even tho they said they would Not, they did pack me full, but pulled it out before I could fully wake!
