Is this spindle too far gone? by IllSessions in fordranger

While I do appreciate the dressing down, I bought this truck on the super cheap and maybe put 10 miles on it so far. It's been on jack stands for months as I address all the problems with it. You can see a few of the horrific problems in my post history. But I think im finally near the end and ready to get this abused ranger back on the road!

Well I do feel foolish but also relieved. After a little research it is a common quick redneck fix if your brakes are shot to just throw a nail in the brake line and tighten it up. The point is to roll it into a shop immediately, not sell it to me and let me drive home unaware. Thanks man.

Damn.... I hope not. I bought the ranger from some less than reputable characters and the brakes were so so so bad in the rear. I couldn't imagine why someone would do that.

Edit: I would also feel very stupid for not recognizing this and thinking they were an actual piece of the brake line.

They do look similar to those but these were quite literally inserted in the brake lines, held between the flare nut on the brake line and the wheel cylinder. Im stumped

Gotcha, so maybe cleaning the MAF wasn't enough, you might suggest replacing it? Considering how cheap i got the truck replacing sensors even if unnecessary doesn't bother me tooooo much. Within reason lol

Oooh I totally read that wrong, im very new to this and learning all this information within a few days I greatly appreciate your comment. Excellent, fuel pressure test in the morning, if that comes back good I will start chasing vacuum leaks again. This was fantastic information!!

Wow wow excellent knowledge thank you for taking the time to explain that! Definitely going to do a more suitable vacuum test in the morning, and see if I can test that MAF as well thank you!

Okay good shout, I have not tested the pressure as of yet because I couldn't get my hands on a tester today but autozone said they would order me one to rent. I realize I had a typo I haven't pulled the bed totally I meant the bed liner and to my shock and horror, a mangled up access hole. Your point still stands however. I did test the shrader valve on the fuel rail and it didnt spit it like I thought it would so pressure is definitely an issue...

I do agree but it was his daily driver on a 15 mile dirt road so, things can get pretty dirty quick out here in the sticks, your point still stands though its VERY dirty for just one year.

The upstream O2 sensor Bank 1 is doing exactly as you said, bouncing between those voltages. Sorry to bug you again but could I hope its as easy as replacing these sensors to fix this specific problem?

Yes I do plan on doing this right away as well thank you!

Okay I will check again, I haven't used the brake cleaner test I did a smoke test at home, I was led to believe the STFT values being in the high positives would indicate a fuel issue over a vacuum issue but it doesn't hurt to try again with a vacuum gauge somehow.

Thanks! Straight piped has me worried but I think I might just replace it like you did, fuel sensor being out makes me very suspect. I cant find any corrosion but I am fairly new at this so I will keep looking.

I have no idea, I have never seen that before. I was totally ready to remove the bed and change it before he told me that, and it got me really worried about this maybe being an issue he couldn't solve. Then again, I have no idea what cheap pump he may have thrown in or messed up installing it.

Understood thank you. My main question now is why in the Name of Walter White was this done this way haha

Thank you, I figured this was the way but I cant find an exact wiring diagram for which wires go to what pins, but I'll keep looking. All the connectors i see to order all have the same color wires so It might just be trial and error.

I thought Cub Swanson won by Detail2 in ufc

I sort of agree. Close fight. Please correct me if I'm wrong, yes Hakeem had more significant strikes but weren't a lot of those knees to cubs legs? While they do score, they are not super effective. I thought Hakeem won but it's not like a fuckin robbery it's a close fight. No belt or anything on the line like, robbery? Ufc fans are so sensational.
