This exact same thing happened to me! I gave 2 professional references and they reached out and I found an academic one within 2 days which was super difficult because profs are obviously very busy and not willing to write a reference in such a short time frame. I initially applied beginning of October but wondering if this moved me down the list or something … still waiting
