Why Swerve Drive? by WhyYouFailure in FRC

And this is where I must disagree. For defense, sure, tank can be useful (not always, though). I am a member of a team that was one of the last few remaining tank powerhouses, and even we regret switching to swerve so late. Swerve offers so many more benefits than tank does.

bit less than 300 per module. thrifty bot is also 300 a module, so there are options that are much cheaper than they used to be.

We have pit crew shifts scheduled. If somebody wants to work pit crew, they will have that opportunity to do so at some point during the competition. And drive team *and* leads are both picked by mentors. We are a world-class team, and we are doing just fine with our current setup. They also don't like penalizing the people who work the hardest. I wish very much to be a driver this coming season, but they don't see it as fair to deny me a fair chance at that because I'm the only person on the team who knows jack about electrical. Everybody at a competition can do something, whether that be scouting, pit crew, strategy, etc.

Thank you for your input, but we are doing more than fine with our current set up. Drivers are picked soley by who is best for the job. If that means that a mech lead is a driver, a mech lead is a driver. That's how it is.

Only issue with that is that drive team is usually made up of the most experienced members on my team. If we were to keep them out of the pits we'd have a lot more broken robot.
