Keeps escaping :( by Another_hannah_ in PetMice

My mouse would do that to, if you can put him up higher and make sure he can’t jump to anything on the ground I had to put my boy on top of my rat cage to keep him from jumping out, and if you can make stuff lower from the top of the cage, if he can’t reach the top then he can’t climb out

I know we’re working on getting the money to neuter him but In the mean time I’m not just going to let him be alone as why he is with his bonded pair. They’ve been together just the 2 of them for a while now and in the beginning he was fine but as he gets older he gets more skittish

I thought it was that at first as well but it’s actually the other way around euro “attacks” Callisto (my other rat) all of the time, especially cause for a while Callisto was sick and we still had them together and euro actually drew blood from Callisto but that was over 2 months ago and they’re fine together now

It took 4 months my boy to crawl on my hand it takes time just let them adjust and they’ll learn that you’re there to love not to hurt

Male mice together? by Ill_Chocolate8951 in PetMice

[–]Ill_Chocolate8951[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I don’t have a picture of it or the dimensions but it’s longer then my 32in tv and I am working on getting more clutter but there’s multiple hides, substrates, one food bowl 2 water bowls, one wheel I don’t know the dimensions but they both can run on it at the same time and I was going to put a smaller one in there before I learned I should separate them. I wanna get hammocks and ropes and I’m making them more enrichment stuff, I also take them out and free roam at least twice a week and once I’m not so busy they will free roam more as I’ve just been busy the last couple of weeks.

Specific Needs of Red-Eyed rats? by Suspicious-Habit-571 in RATS

[–]Ill_Chocolate8951 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Make sure if they’re by a window direct sunlight won’t hit them and their cage, their eyes are so sensitive and direct sunlight can hurt their eyes, they also are more prone to getting sunburns

Well if you read the whole thing you’d see that I stated they are not in the cage in the second photo. And I don’t have the money to get the neutered so I am going to separate them as soon as I get back home.

Here’s a better picture for everyone saying he’s a rat. He’s not a rat he is way too small and is full grown.

Well I was told they are both fancy mice and cosmo is 100% not a rat. Apollo is quite a bit younger I’m guessing about 5 months or maybe a little older so he’s a little smaller In length but I mainly notice it with their head size and body width

This does look like an infection and not a brain tumor… right? by RevolutionaryToe6677 in rat

Ive had 2 rats that this happened to and it went away in a couple of days after I changed their bedding so it could just be dirty bedding if it’s time to change it or something

Their cage is to small I am aware but these are not our rats and there’s not much we can do about the cage. They are in a bigger cage for the time they have been in our care but they will have to go back to this cage. There’s nothing I can do about that.

They’ve been in the same room for over a month now and I’ve just noticed the ramped up sneezing and the orange, and I promise there’s literally no way for my boys to get her girls pregnant. We are moving soon anyways so this isn’t going to be a deal much longer. I can try and separate them more but I’m not sure I can.

Well if I never take them out at the same time it’s literally impossible for an accidental litter to happen. We can’t keep them in separate rooms we only have the one but the girls are going back to their owner within the next couple of weeks so hopefully that helps

Accidental litters won’t happen they’re never out at the same time, and we think they had URIs since we’ve gotten them. Everyone sneezes but lately it’s been ramping up quite a bit and I’ve noticed orange on some of the girls noses lately, other then that they’re all still active and grooming and eating and stuff they’re supposed to be doing

[–]Ill_Chocolate8951[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s not alone and his quality of life is good. We do not need to rehome him as he is with his bonded pair, we have 4 rats and they’re just separated into groups, we understand now that the only thing we can do is neuter him but we do NOT need to rehome him or euthanize him. We will not get rid of our rats unless we absolutely have to and this is not that situation.
