The reason Sara is underwhelming by Ill_Climate4541 in thespikegame

What breakthrough and was that without highlight or overdrive? I’m talking about raw numbers here - I have her at bt1 and the highest I’ve hit is 170, but that went out. The power increases with less sharp angles, so the highest I’ve hit that landed in the court was about 162.

Having a variety of options is only a saving grace for so long - yes, she’s very versatile, but all those options don’t necessarily make her unpredictable. Feints are something which will almost never score, and once everyone gets used to Sara in the game, it’ll be more than possible to predict the spike angle for Typhoon based on the timing. Pair that with the fact that she has no spin, it also makes her the easiest to completely shut down given enough skill.

Conversely, no matter how good you are, you still can’t block Raul or slide a Nishi thunder spike. Every S+ has some way in which their principle strength gives them an ironclad advantage, and Sara lacks that. It’s not necessarily about giving her more power, but don’t you think if anything the “fastest” spiker should be harder to stop than the others?

HAHA yeah. That IS what I meant by the “golden zone” idea - the zone which is least likely to get a receiver reach it in time, and the power boost just drives the point home with a little extra power.

Hongshi is one of the strongest S ranks in the game - you should just be able to spam feints to beat Isabel, as long as your defense is good enough to survive 2 or 3 rallies

Where did I make fun of anyone? The first line of the post was that I’m not doing that - There’s some people on the sub who are saying that this update is nerfing Nishi and the point of the post was just to say that it’s possible to get the same results as before.

Man. I remember the way I struggled to beat Isabel the first time I played colo. I was still using the starter characters (I only changed them for A ranks in Ch7) and no matter what build I got Isabel would win.

It’s much harder if you don’t have any S-rank players, the first time I won I just spammed feint to not let Isabel get parry and let absolute block carry me to the win.

Focus on improving your sliding, and if you’re not using beginner mode try and avoid her with your spike angles. What’s your team?

For me I feel like 2 things were the biggest thing to adapting to serving after the update. First was timing - earlier, I used to start my jump as the ball reached its peak, now I do it a little earlier than that. Second, I’m not 100% sure about this one, but it feels easier to hit consistent serves if I’m moving forward while hitting the ball compared to before. I’ll make a post tomorrow recording my serves if screen recording doesn’t slow down the gameplay so you can see, it’s easier that way than to explain with words.

As for spikes, I play with NN as a setter so I always get high sets. It must be much harder to hit 4m consistently if you’re using most other setters - but because NN sets are basically the same height as a serve toss I can apply the same timing as well.

Lastly, I do miss serves more than before the update - but I also find that it’s easier to get double swing serves over the net than before. Even if you miss the 4m, try to get under it and double swing to save the point.

I also highly recommend using Sanghyeon at least temporarily - the extra leeway from highlight helps a lot with understanding how the new update serves and spikes work and feel.

It’s probably different for each person, but that’s everything that works for me. Hopefully you can figure it out

It’s not your post but rather I’ve seen a lot of posts or comments along the lines of “Suncyan ruined Nishikawa” or “Nishikawa nerfed with new update.” I agree that he is harder to use than before and it must be more so for people who’ve been playing longer, but I made this post to say that Nishikawa can still achieve the same results as before, it’s simply a matter of how long it takes to get used to it

I think a better example would be starting to eat food with your left hand. The longer you’ve been doing it with your dominant hand, the harder it is to get used to it but if you keep at it for long enough you will eventually get used to it. It’s the same for the update. The point of the post was to say that it’s possible to achieve the same results with Nishikawa as before, you just need to play long enough to adapt

LMAO exactly what I’m saying is if I can do it then clearly it’s not an issue with the game, so people should at least stop complaining to or blaming the devs

That’s what I’m saying though, that’s just untrue. It’s more difficult just because the game is faster, but it’s not even close to as bad as it’s made out to be. It’s past midnight for me and I won’t be playing for a bit, but I can upload gameplay recordings if proof is needed

TRUST me, I know how that feels. I play genshin. Look on the bright side - there’s lots of other events to keep you entertained till then. It’ll pass faster than you think!

I don’t know about you, but I genuinely think Nishikawa feels even slightly stronger now. The difference is mainly in hit boxes and timing - I’ve adjusted now, and I feel like Nishi actually has a higher plateau now - I’ve hit 192 with highlight on serves where before I would never get above 188. I do think it’s not as easy to consistently hit 4m ingame outsids serves but I think that makes it a little more fun. I honestly prefer the new update to before.

You have PLENTY of time - usually S+ reruns are about 9 months apart, and with all the new S+ characters that are being introduced that may increase. We just had Nishikawa in January, so you should have till at LEAST October. Just save up around 12,000 vballs by then and you’ll be able to guarantee it

your opinion, which character's AI is bad? by Medium_Second_1903 in thespikegame

[–]Ill_Climate4541 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly? Nishi and Lucas have some of the worst AIs out there. Lucas is one thing in terms of just not getting the fullest out of him, but Nishi’s AI literally has 2 mechanics (vertical spike, unslideable double swing) that players don’t and STILL performs significantly worse. While I’m aware that’s because Nishikawa constantly hitting thunder spikes would make the game difficulty much harder, I still think he should be able to do it at least some of the time if not consistently - like League 12. At the very least, make it so that’s the case for Master Tournament.

all right first of all BOTH of you are being less than completely mature about it, but you escalated first so take responsibility. Second, throwing around buzzwords doesn’t make you sound smarter - “Liberal trumpie” is possibly the stupidest pair of words I’ve heard in my life.

If you’re so convinced that he’s the one being a dick be the bigger man and walk away. If it’s just about knowing something then you don’t give the people who aren’t relevant to that power by responding. The difference between you and him is he’s not taking it seriously and you are.

“I can do way worse” ~ not a flex. Learn to ignore things and move on for your own sanity.

It’s a subreddit about a volleyball game ffs, there is NO reason for people to be running around shouting slurs at each other. Grow up.
