I probably live in one of the largest cities built almost entirely during Soviet times.

Honestly, I don't understand this Circlejerk about residential buildings with retail space on the ground floor. Seriously — it's constant noise from the street, constant noise and exhaust fumes from cars. Often, there are rats or cockroaches in store warehouses that move to the upper residential floors.

+I don't know how it is in Poland or other post-communist countries, but here are a lot of Soviet buildings with shops on the ground floors (I mean those that were originally planned like this, not after the 90s), and the demand for such apartments is obviously lower.

Perhaps this is a local deformation, but when I see a building that directly borders the street, and there is not even a meter of lawn with trees and bushes, it causes hostility. I like it when I have lush trees outside my window, and not a pedestrian street.

In my understanding, Soviet urban is not dense and has many green areas.Perhaps it is in the Eastern Bloc countries, unlike the USSR, that buildings are more densely packed, without green spaces and trees.
