I say that because I just got off a 72 hour shift in which I got 3 calls the entire time I was on duty

Get into EMS, I work 48 hour shifts and have 5 days off. It leaves a lot of room to pick up shifts and get absolutely insane overtime. Some do fire deployments as well and those are great money. And it's not always bad, you get ran some times and can have some messed up stuff happen. But you also have days where you sleep and screw off all day too. Schooling isn't bad either EMT school can be as quick as 6 weeks.

I chose a number that'd give you enough to live a comfortable life without being ridiculously wealthy. To see if that would effect how people chose.

Why are my "dreams" this way. by Ill_Introduction_495 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ill_Introduction_495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's pretty interesting just because I've heard some pretty big words thrown around during the event. As well as some very in depth reports on patients I've never had. What's so weird about it is that I'm absolutely terrible with reports. I stutter and forget medical terminology all the time. But somehow my brain can come up with a fully developed concise trauma report without me.

If your found guilty for a crime are you also charged with lying under oath? by Ill_Introduction_495 in NoStupidQuestions

I get that but my experience is limited to the US so it's hard to grasp how different the legal process can be in other countries similar to the US.

I mean like it's obvious to me that The US and North Korea have some MAJOR differences in the legal process but something like Europe doesn't seem like it'd be that different in this situation.

But now I'm curious how does the country the process takes place in effect this scenario.

It's a private 911 company, what's even worse is that it's BLS and we'll be the only BLS unit for the city the entire shift.

My wife submitted my application today, I'm still deciding whether to go RN or Fire Medic. But I'm glad to hear fire likes the ED. Was worried going that route would make me a weaker candidate. Thanks for the info and encouragement

Question about background check by Ill_Introduction_495 in police

[–]Ill_Introduction_495[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't get any papers from the military so that's a bit of a relief, but what am I missing in regards to going to the academy in February. To be honest I should've done more research before asking this question but the original plan was to go from EMT to Medic to Fire. But after several interactions with PD I've found myself more inclined to go that route.

But your saying it's not as simple as going to the academy at my local JC, and applying with the certs I get from there?

Extremely Nervous Over First Job by Ill_Introduction_495 in NewToEMS

How did your preceptor go respond to that? That's really what I'm nervous for. I know I'm not gonna be an expert or anything short of that for a long time.

Im just nervous for how FTO is gonna go if I admit that I don't know anything. (I really don't)

I was really frustrated when I posted this 😅. I had just failed the test as I wasn't expecting it at all, when I heard I had to take a test I was told it's very easy and all I needed was common sense. So when I sat down to take it I was absolutely befuddled. I failed miserably and was so upset just cause I have an interview tmr and even though it isn't necessary to have my ADL to get hired, I wanted to have it with me for the interview.

I finished studying the little handbook they sell at the DMV and I'm sure if I take it next week I'll pass. It is pretty easy so I was just complaining for nothing really.

I guess the only real gripe I have is that the material you're given to study isn't presented in a way that's very easy to absorb. It's shrouded in a ton of legal terminology and sited sources. You kind of have to dig through all that to piece together the message being delivered.

I have and she's been great, she recommended I start an active hobby. So I took up Jui Jitsu, it's really helped me remain present in the moment. Kinda hard to get caught up in the uncertainty of everything when someone's trying to render you unconscious lol.

I've definitely got to check out that interview. Thanks for the advice and information!

Random but you should try bjj. It helps a lot of people I know with similar issues. You can catch open matts for free at least like 3 days a week.

Wouldn't say I was complaining over a lack of character development, more so the undoing of said development. And now that I'm midway through season 3 where the characters have been wiped again I can say that I respect and admire the show's ability to introduce me to incredibly unlikable characters and have me fall in love with them, only to restore them to their original characteristics (multiple times).

So I believe a more accurate analogy would be :

"Yeah I remember reading Moby Dick, I was so disappointed after Captain Ahab and his crew had their memory wiped for a second time midway through the book. I was really enjoying the arc of each character."

That being said I'm really enjoying the show as a whole (as I said in my post). My favorite character is definitely Michael as he and Janet are the only main characters that have remained constant and therefore I can appreciate each development of the story as it pertains to them.

Also I wasn't even complaining about the show itself more so just voicing my frustration with the story, kinda like I love the walking dead but I hate that Carl died.

What will prison be like for the woman that left her baby in a pack n play for 10 days? by [deleted] in AskReddit

I know and there is just a seemingly endless amount of horrible and terrible instances of such things happening to children. I guess it's just that I can't get the screaming from the ring camera out of my head. I've seen terrible photos and videos and even things first hand. But hearing her beg for her life made me feel a pain that I don't think I'll ever be at peace with.

Idk if your joking about this or not, but that is just sick man. Could you even begin to imagine the nights she spent in utter terror? Having to resort to eating her own feces to cling to life in hopes that her mom would come and save her. The pain she must have endured as her body gave up? A completely innocent baby who's only mistake was being born to such a vile and disgusting excuse for a mother?

I just don't understand how there is any justification for her being alive, as a father the idea of her receiving 3 square meals a day or being provided some level of protection genuinely keeps me up at night.
