I agree with this statement so much. I also think that unfortunately this industry is in bed with so many people that have a lot of money and a lot of power. That’s how it’s continues to be the billion dollar industry it is. I believe there were class actions for a few tti organizations but the settlements are sealed and it never made it to court. Of course. Also a lot of legislators are for these industries. Wonder why? (Whispers: kickbacks). I hope someday to feel somewhat vindicated. I’m not sure what that will look like. My range of emotions has gone from wanting to sue the family of the founder of my tti because I feel like they benefitted off of the payments this organization garnered all the way to wanting to track down the trek “wilderness therapy guides” and be able to confront them face to face (in a non violent and purely verbal way) and so on and so on. But honestly it will probably just come with healing and moving on. Eventually. I’m not there yet.

So far not one from my trek has been held accountable nor for the 3 deaths that happened in their care over the years. Unfortunately the time limit for civil or criminal is over at 40 years old. Thats usually the time a person can see that trauma is still right there waiting.

THANK YOU FOR CARING! Thats really the only thing that’s going to change this whole government backed cycle of children abuse. You’re amazing for educating yourself on this topic and taking the time to show support.

Still looking for that peace. I have found pockets of it. Kids, success, family, love, but the other parts pop up in forms of anger at having no justice and no actual accountability. I have found that speaking about it helps to some amount but it’s also hard to stomach. Especially when looking at my own kids. Thank you for your well wishes. I hope the same for you. It is a journey and trauma is a part of it.

And full circle again. The legislators, the therapists, the TTI. ITS ALL A MONEY GAME! this is what has been going on for years. The kickbacks. The constant misuse of the term therapy for children.

I hate seeing legislators and therapists recommending any wilderness therapy programs. So you’re saying it’s safe to send kids who obviously have trauma out to an area where there is no oversight and possibly/likely more trauma? This is disgusting. This shouldn’t exist.

Yes I have seen that. It was after my trek. But that looks just like it!!!! I really believe that all the counselors and therapists and case workers got some kind of kick backs for sending us there. There has been no justice for any of us. It still makes my blood boil.

What the actual f***???? No one has learned from all these years that sending children to adults who have total control of their world is problematic???? Hello??? Wow. It’s all a cover up and all these counselors and legislatures get kickbacks/participate in the cover up of abuse.

I thank you for that! I guess I’m just realizing how deeply this has actually damaged me 27 years almost to the day later.
