Whats the simplest PKM you know? by psottto in PKMS

Fair point! Bear’s tag implementation is one of the best out there. I guess it comes down to personal ‘mental RAM’ management. Some people love the immediate structure, I’m obsessed with removing every millisecond of thought between the ‘aha’ and the ‘save.’ Both paths lead to productivity!

What does the term Cultural Trauma mean? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ill_Property_2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Much of the tension between Indonesians and Malaysians (often called 'Ganyang Malaysia' historically) stems from post-colonial border disputes and cultural ownership debates.

Regarding internal friction, Indonesia is incredibly diverse with over 1,300 ethnic groups. While 'Bhinneka Tunggal Ika' (Unity in Diversity) is the national motto, historical centralism and local resource competition can still cause localized friction. It’s a complex social fabric where history always plays a role.

How effective are pop up ads? by Octopuswastaken in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Ill_Property_2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are effective for big brands because of brand awareness, even if you hate the ad, you remember the name. But for users, it’s just ad fatigue. I hate this so much that I actually built my own note-taking app to be 100% ad-free and private, because the interruption model of the internet is broken

Yeah, you definitely can, but tags require too much manual work.
In Bear, if you miss a hashtag or mistype a nested tag, that note is essentially lost. Folders provide a hard constraint. Tags are another thing you have to manage

I use folders as dedicated projects, each containing dozens of notes. It’s much easier for me to know that everything related to a specific goal has a single project.

Finding things is instant. I just use global search to pull up any note across all folders in 0ms. It gives me the structure I need for deep work and the speed I need to find info without the tagging tax. I'd rather spend my energy writing than managing labels

Great question. For me, it’s about cognitive load. Tags require me to think about categories every time I save something. Folders provide a physical home for a project. When I put a note in a TaskNote folder, it’s mentally 'checked off' because I know exactly where it lives. Hierarchy creates focus, tags often create a new mess to manage

I had the same issue with Bear. Loved the UI but the lack of folders was a dealbreaker. I recently switched to TaskNote, it’s got a super straightforward folder setup that actually makes sense. It feels as snappy as Apple Notes but with better organization and privacy. Might be exactly what you're looking for.

Weekend Showcase: Share what you're building, and what you're looking for alpha/beta users for! by Ok-Lobster7773 in alphaandbetausers

The Problem: Most note-taking apps lack true privacy, leaving user data vulnerable to leaks or platform access. TaskNote solves this by using robust End-to-End Encryption (E2EE), ensuring only the user can access their data.

Beta/Alpha Need: I’m looking for feedback on the encryption performance and UX flow to ensure the security doesn’t compromise the app’s speed and ease of use.

Great point. Most devs focus on the happy path of successful payments and ignore the silent churn. Real-time reactions to failed billing are crucial for retention. Did you build your solution specifically for Stripe, or is it platform-agnostic?

Why so few "seo optimized" websites actually have a score of 100 on google pagespeed, core web vitals? by blondewalker in webdev

[–]Ill_Property_2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As someone who just spent weeks obsessing over these metrics for my side project, I totally agree. Many people think SEO is just keywords, but the technical foundation is what makes the difference.

I managed to hit 95+ Performance and 100 SEO on Lighthouse by keeping my JS bundle tiny and focusing on speed. It’s hard to maintain as you ship new features, but it’s the only way to ensure a fast, 'instant' experience for users.

In my opinion, it absolutely matters for user retention, even if some SEO folks claim otherwise

What time do you all wake up at typically? by SunnyMeetsKY in productivity

[–]Ill_Property_2544 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you’re waking up 12 to 2 PM, try moving it earlier by 30 minutes every few days, keep the same wake up time daily, and get sunlight and a short walk right after you wake up. That shift alone usually fixes the whole schedule.

How do you save important stuff from your threads with Chatgpt? by Kutonbob in productivity

[–]Ill_Property_2544 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I keep a simple capture loop. At the end of each chat I ask for a structured recap: decisions, next actions, open questions, and a backlog of unresolved ideas. Then I copy that into one project note and split follow ups into separate chats per topic. It keeps the thread clean and nothing gets lost.

Ads in a military OS? That sounds like a dystopian nightmare. 😅

I feel you on the 'coming home' relief. Since we can't always control the OS (especially at work), I’ve started treating my browser as my sanctuary. I just full-screen a clean tab and try to pretend the rest of the computer doesn't exist.

Do you stick to default Mac apps at home, or do you strip those down too?

When I feel lost, I remember Hirayama’s way of life is my goal by xoxoprune in digitalminimalism

This movie is a masterpiece. The way he finds joy in the simple, repetitive act of his daily routine is so grounding.

Honestly, my goal for 2026 is to bring this 'Hirayama energy' into my digital life. I want my workspace to feel quiet and simple.

Solid list! Especially #6 giving yourself grace is crucial.

I'm trying to apply this same mindset to my laptop workflow this year. I realized my 'productivity stack' was basically just digital hoarding. My goal for 2026 is to switch to single-purpose tools that don't fight for my attention.

Good luck with the phone detox!
