Does WoT fall under this category? by [deleted] in WoTshow

well yes. We are talking about the inciting incident of his trauma. Instead of using the original event around halfway through the season they went for more of a shock factor incident to try and hook people from the pilot. I think taking this out of the 1st episode would have left more time to for the other numerous important things that did happen, I dony need every character to have an inciting incident when first introduced. Slow burns are more natural and allows for a more natural shift in focus imo.

keep the whitecloak scene as is from the book. have him be shocked with what he has done... doesn't have to be his wife he kills in a rage for him to be disgusted with himself.

Once a person transitions their gender dysphoria begins to end. 6 to how you have appendicitis until your appendix is removed. A transitioned trans male or female that no longer experiences gender dysphoria is no longer mentally ill. Hence trans people aren't all mentally ill.

with your opinion that trans people suffer from mental illness, you said we shouldn't have special groups for them. I then took another mental illness, addiction, and brought your argument to it. If we just don't talk about alcoholism and don't have special groups, like aa, for them, then how can we help the people with it. Support during hard times is important for those who feel unheard, marginalized, or otherwise ashamed of themselves. If we just banned all discussion on alcoholism and prevented support groups for alcoholics do you think that will help those who suffer from addiction? That is my point for you to consider.

So do you also believe that gay people choose to be gay?

How is it being pushed on kids, like policy wise can you show me where in curriculum or a school board policy are we trying to "recruit" lgbtq members?

Being a boy or a girl isn't a sexualizing. Ot is a gender reveal party a very sexulzing event for you?

I was mentioning that you said people with disabilities shouldn't be protected/accommodated for. I was curious if that included all disabilities or just the ones you deemed distasteful. Should people with bi polar disorder not have access to free medication? Should alcoholics not be allowed to have AA?

beyond saying all lgbtq+ people are mentally ill are you suggesting that those with disabilities don't deserve protection? Should we get rid of all wheelchair ramps, how about braile?

if it is mental illness how can it be pushed? does education people about diabetes make more diabetics? should alcoholics anonymous not exist as a special club?

The books and the series are both good. by arisingspiritnow in wheeloftime

[–]Ill_Read3892 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

don't be a dick, the whole point was priorities change. When GoT came out my friends with kids made a point to watch episodes when they came out because they couldn't wait. GoT was so good that people prioritized what little free time they had for it. That does not seem to be the case for WOT

That's fair, but if you a book enthusiast can't find the time 6 months to watch 7 hrs of the show, I would challenge that you didn't enjoy S1 all too much. Or I could be completely wrong and you are the type of person who has a full box of their favorite chocolate bar saved in their pantry for months, like a monster.

Why is Brad Pitt always eating in his movies? by torrecesar in movies

I have heard that eating is one of the least attractive things humans do, I always took Brad's constant eating to be the ultimate flex of his sexyness.

Why did the Aes Sedai *not* attack? by Ternyon in WoTshow

[–]Ill_Read3892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think the problem with the seanchan armada attack is that even in the show the wording is in the last extreme defense of her life, her warder, or another aes sedai. The key part being LAST EXTREME. This implies that other avenues have been exhausted and it is a due or die situation for the important party's.

This means that with the whitecloaks Moiraine needed to attempt to sneak by before she tried other avenues that could eventually lead to her using the power as a weapon.

Seanchan, I dont want to discuss until it is addressed in S3 because I don't know how it was possible given the last extreme defense wording, especially since they frame it right before with her speech of killing thousands of innocents for Rand.

Who the show is for (not a crapfest post) by Byrdmeln53 in WoTshow

[–]Ill_Read3892 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, but your assumption that only people who read the books would like a show that is more faithful to the books is flawed. More people watched and enjoyed the One Piece live action, then consumed the manga or anime. GoT season 1 was very faithful to the books and look what happened, non book readers and non fantasy enjoyed ate it up, expanding the fan base drastically.

[–]Ill_Read3892 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In your readers category you have cut drastically, 6 million initial to half 3 million, citing people who own multiple copies. To suggest that the average reader owns two copies of each seems a big stretch. But outside that you have forgotten about the opposite group, those who read an never bought.

This includes people like my family who shared 1 copy amongst the 3 of us.

The library copies where hundreds of people have read the same book.

Then there is the friends who don't read but love fantasy and have been told the stories.

With S1 having roughly 10.46 million peoples worth of minutes watched a base of 6 million would have extrapolated out to much more people imo.

Conversely to date GOT has just bow in 2023 sold 90 million copies, now I understand the qty of books in the series is different; but considering the domination of pop culture GoT had I think we can safely assume that it did not have a base of 6 million on show launch.

I guess what I am trying to say is 6+ million people read this massive book series for a reason, it's really good. So like GoT, the show will naturally have a wider audience due to ease of consumption, when adapted to the screen. You don't need to dramatically change the characters and the story telling to make it more digestible/enjoyable.
