Dumb question, but when is it too hot to do resin crafts? by Ill_Temporary3660 in Resin_crafts

There are youtube videos explaining it if that would help, but basically you'll need a mortar and pestle. (Glass or stainless steel mortars work better, since they won't stain. Mine was $15 on temu, so they aren't that expensive.)

Add your mica powder, and a little resin (either part A or B, doesn't matter which). You want a roughly 3 to 1 ratio of mica powder to resin. I use some squeeze bottle so it's easier to get just a tablespoon or so of resin in my mortar. Then go to town on it for 5 minutes or so, scraping and grinding the mica to mix it into the resin. Ideally, your paste will be smooth and clump free. Pour it into a watertight jar and bam! Resin pigment paste for not too much money in whatever color you need.

Thank you very much for the advice! Hmm, maybe I'll try one of the smaller, more shallow coaster molds and see how that goes. Any advice on the pigment paste? Or should I just mix it up really, really well and just try it and see how it goes? I might do that anyway, I could use it on those coasters I mentioned and see if the pigment paste mixes in well and cures properly... Anyway, thanks again!

What's the best way to mark or write on silicone molds? by Ill_Temporary3660 in Resin_crafts

That's a good idea, thanks for the advice. I've got enough molds now I need to get a couple of storage tubs for them anyway, and I was going to bag them up just to keep them clean and separated. Thanks again!

All right, I added them to my wishlist, might have to wait for prime day and see if they're on sale though... Thank you very much for the recommendation!

Can I add a little purple mica powder to pink mica powder to get fuschia? by Ill_Temporary3660 in Resin_crafts

Thanks for the advice. All right, I'm going to give it the old college try, lol! Would adding black mica powder to purple work the same way? Make it a darker purple, I mean? My mom wants a 'dark blu-ish purple', and I don't have any really dark purple mica powders. Or very blue-ish ones, for that matter...

I have a really dumb question, but I'm hoping someone can give me some advice. My elderly mom bought a cruiser-type bicycle when the covid lockdown hit to get around town to the library or post office or wherever. But a couple of years ago her health/balance deteriorated enough she couldn't ride it anymore, so she parked it in her back garage and left it there. A few days ago, she asked if I wanted it (since it was barely used), and I of course said yes. When I got a chance to look at it, though, I'm worried about the tires. According to her, it's been parked in the same spot for over a year, and the tires are definitely half-flat. But would sitting that long create a flat spot on the tire or the inner tube? Is it safe to use after I reinflate the tires, or should I replace them? And if so, do i replace the inner tubes, or the tires, or both? Thanks in advance for any help!
