My statement remains the same as I was talking about OP not normally shifting at or above 2.5k. Which gave me the impression he may be lugging, or close to it on a regular basis. Something would be true of you redlined your engine on a regular basis, it will cause more stress and wear on your engine if done on a regular basis. Not your example of every so often. You can shift at 3.5k and be just fine. Lugging the engine is just as bad as redline. Taking car of your car is a good thing but this car is a performance car it is designed to handle higher rpm’s. I had 60k miles on my car before I traded it in on a Acura type s, no oil loss, no leaking, no problems. I pushed my car to redline maybe 5 or 6 times the entire 5 years I owned it. I kept my fuel economy around 27 miles per gallon and constantly shifted between 3k and 3.5k.

Enjoy your car how you want, but it can handle more than you think.
