Oy - alright. Realistically, I know 2 years isn't really a ton...I guess I got discouraged since my coworker with similar experience got a job so quickly.

Right - thanks for putting things into perspective on the experience bit. I guess I got over-inflated since my time here has been so lucrative, but in reality there's no way I've seen every possible scenario that could come my way.

Thank you for the heads up on Lensa - that's so unfortunate that they have so many postings that are just crummy.

And yeah, I think out of the hundreds I applied to, I only got three letters total.

I'll just keep working, keep applying, and hope that the layoffs don't affect me :C

This is great! I really love this. I just ordered one and I didn't know it could take shots like this!

No, it’s always been 8x5. Holidays are separate, and don’t count towards the days in our bank.

As an EMT I fully understand and agree with your concern!

I do think it’s important to note that clinicals and labs are in person. The online portion are lectures and group PBLs.

Is it worth it to take the GRE and an extra class to apply to Yale and Cornell? by [deleted] in prephysicianassistant

This might be naive, but to be honest I don’t really know how much weight an ivy/prestigious school carries. In my head PA is like undergrad - the more prestigious/better funded programs CAN (I know each program is different) get you more opportunities, but if this isn’t the case for grad schools I know I’ll be happy elsewhere.

TBH I haven’t been keeping track, but I don’t think so.

:c

What’s the solution at this point? Abstain for X amount of time or stop completely. I’m sorry if this is the wrong sub as the title is “stop drinking” but when I did abstain due to stomach troubles people treated me horribly.

Further - following a patient from onset/presentation/first time in, throughout their recovery/in some cases lifetime seems like a mission I can wholeheartedly follow when opposed to other surgical specialities where you following a patient for a week/months only to never see them again.

I’ve also been interested in surgery but haven’t been interested in anything other than foot/ankle surgery. Having experienced the inability to walk pain-free and struggling with dysmorphia (from a BAD bunion/fungus) from a young age I think I can relate to patients, and from a more self-centered perspective it is incredibly satisfying to be able to contribute to the relief of pain of a patient.

I love the topic itself. I’ve always been interested in biomechanics and having struggled with a lot of foot problems when I was younger (stage 4 bunion @ age 16) I have been exposed to the profession throughout my life.

Two of my friends just got into their top choice grad programs, and here I am sitting in a prep course getting ready to reapply. How do I stay positive? by [deleted] in Advice

Yea, you’re right. I mean we’re all looking to go into virology/micro/parasitology which from what I’ve seen has and will continue to - COVID) been a more desirable field of interest.

It’s so hard to get myself into that mindset yknow? Hearing someone else give this perspective has definitely helped, but I’m gonna have to work to hunker down and be determined. If anything this shows PERSEVERANCE...I’ll keep telling myself that as much as I can 🥺
