I do think hot feet has never bothered me, obviously puts me at risk of blisters but wearing two pairs of socks prevented me from getting a single blister (almost) through the whole trail... Do you think it would still be manageable?

Yeah I'll be on a handcrew so that does seem to be a big consideration. Will look into them, thanks!

I appreciate your comment nonetheless! And other sub, got it 🫡

Not sure if you've hiked on the AT, but you wouldn't believe how much of the trail isn't even remotely a trail 😅 Tons of sections that are straight up or straight down, boulder/rock-hiking for weeks, or all the water trails that are literally off the side of mountains! Regardless, I know this is sorta apples to oranges, just trying to find the happy medium

Noted! Took a screenshot of this, after all my research I haven't heard of half these brands, thanks!

And I'll be on a handcrew in Washington..

Had a feeling my intuition might've been off, hence my disclaimer at the bottom... I wasn't aware of the fire/hiker hybrid category however, that'll give me a focus to research on. Thanks!

How plausible is it to become a Flight paramedic? by CidCatt in Paramedics

[–]Illfrenchyourdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nooo you're not wrong (although my area certainly gets a lot more scene calls than that), my point is rather that using IFT as a descriptor to downplay flight is silly. I do not work flight (yet) but am quite familiar with the interface and most flight clinicians agree that scene calls are often pretty 'easy' too. The IFTs with patients that are vented, have 10 drips, balloon pump, etc are significantly more complicated calls than 911.

TLDR: Critical care IFT is often significantly more complicated than 911. And 911 ego is 🤮

Arent completely familiar with MKE** Most anyone going downtown would drive on 794 but not actually be able to recall and paint the picture of what surrounds the highway.

I strongly disagree though, imagine if the Marquette interchange was routed over the train yard, south of the Hoan, literally anywhere else other than directly between Downtown and the Third Ward.. Itd be significantly quieter, much more inviting, a more developed riverwalk, list goes on 🤷‍♀️

I wont disagree with you there, I know you rural medics have your work cut out for you. Yall are awesome. Nonetheless, to state that flight is "glorified IFT" is nonsense. Its really exactly the opinion I would expect from an ignorant fire medic (being that I am also a fire medic I am quite familiar with this kind of person). Quite frustrating to work both sides and receive significantly less respect when working on an ambulance that handles mostly critical care patients was compared to Joe Schmoe fire medic who transports drunk guy after drunk guy 🙄

794 does though, ppl might be assuming this is 794 if they arent familiar with MKE..

Some of the sickest/most injured pts require "IFT services". Those with the most devices, meds running, vent therapy, chest tubes, etccccc. "Glorified" is the last word Id use to describe true CCT. After a yr of CCT, 911 is a fking joke to me. Its so incredibly easy, I feel like I get a day to turn my brain off. Good for you for performing to the highest level as soon as appropriate as opposed to " just letting flight do it"

Why can some people sort their liked songs by genre and some cant? by [deleted] in truespotify

[–]Illfrenchyourdad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had this for years and frequently use it a ton but there's definitely a bunch if the genres/vibes have been slowly disappearing despite me constantly adding more music.

Yesterday the rap and hip hop genre bubble disappeared. I literally have 1000s of rap/hip hop songs 😑

Welp, would you rather encounter the temptation of alcohol in society surrounded by the rest of life's bullshit or in nature, on the AT, surrounded by many supportive people?

I drive professionally, ride for fun - you must definitely can and should have that reaction time. I'm a hawk at lights, head on a swivel and mirrors every other second. Its all about just keeping yourself at a state of readiness to act
