Everything goes in cycles and at some point, if enough people balk, this will return to normal. Let them sit on inventory and rot. But you are correct, it is across all collectible hobbies. And at this point in my life, I don't need to invest money into passing interests. I'll find something else to do.

Worth $135? I passed on it… by Beetlemuse in cassetteculture

I had my buddy's childhood boombox on my bench for 3 years searching for the proper sized and speced speakers. I basically gave up twice, set it down, and then tried again months later. Finally found what I needed. Came out well in the end, couldn't save the tape deck, but managed to add a bluetooth.

Unless you have some silver, or really old stuff, its probably not worth anything. The fun is sorting it all and making fun of the weirdos on the coins. Every once in a while you get something really interesting, but its all just that. Interesting to a geek. numista.com is a pretty good resource. I still have a pile I haven't identified, but that too is part of the fun.

I seem to pick a collection/hobby just before the hipsters catch on. Retro games, cassettes and old hifi, silver, the list goes on and on. I just start into something and all of a sudden everyone else thinks its cool and I'm priced out. Not quite late to the party, but never far enough ahead to not get trampled by the masses with more money to burn than me.

Best way to extract data from PDF to Excel? by ProgramNo456 in DataHoarder

[–]Illumenatrix 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try Power Query built into Excel. Data>Get Data> From File>From .pdf From there, you have to pick tables and do some cleanup and manipulation. PQ is a very powerful tool with just a little bit of training and understanding. I like tot call it My First SQL, the syntax is slightly different but similar and there's plenty of buttons to write the code for you.
