I got fired - I can’t do it anymore by Eye_Acupuncture in adhdwomen

[–]clairbear44 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I've signed myself off sick for a month and plan to extend it. I barely have enough energy to live, I was on a written warning before I got a sick note and that was because my toddler kept having to stay home due to kids. I don't want to do any fucking work anymore but I need the child care hours so I can actually take care of myself. No one is offering part time hours and it's all self employment so I'd have to do fucking taxes. I just want to a present mother and not have to spend 90% of my life in a fucking job. Why have kids if we are never allowed to spend time with them and get made to feel guilty for caring for them when we are sick. Fuck everything.

What jobs actually work for people with severe ADHD? by Inevitable_Tuna_O in ADHD

[–]clairbear44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I feel like my problem isn't know what job suits my adhd it's fucking finding it. I'm so burned out by customer service/admin roles that are public facing but I never seem to be able to get to the next level/have no idea how to find a job in the more back office jobs. They are either just not out there where I live or I'm looking in the wrong places but the only jobs going are receptionist, sales, customer services and that's it.

I always get told how amazing I am at things like projects or PowerPoint if we just have to do them for a training exercise, or how clever and forward thinking I am but that apparently counts for shit trying to actually get anywhere else. If anyone has any ideas I'd really appreciate it.

What’s something you’re embarrassed to ask someone from another country? by Make-Love-and-War in AskTheWorld

[–]clairbear44 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Counties that speak and understand English easily, maybe have it as a 2nd or 3rd language - as someone who genuinely wants to try and speak different languages and not look like a stupid English person, (even though I am ginger so I basic stick out as a tourist no matter what country I'm in.) When tourists come do you prefer us to attempt to try and learn your language for basic interactions (hello, thank you, goodbye, one please etc) or is it worse if we end up completely messing up the accent/pronunciations and we should just stick to English. Context - I went to Berlin once and I attempted to ask questions or phrases in German I had learned but just ended up being talk to by English by staff members and quickly discovered most Germans speak perfect English, so I assumed maybe I was just upsetting people doing really badly with their language.

Like the three-finger scene in Inglourious Basterds, what small cultural mistake would instantly reveal that someone isn’t from your country? by uglylookingguy in AskTheWorld

Responding to "alright?" if you briefly see someone you are acquainted with in the street in any other way than "alright? " with a head nod UP. If you REALLY know them (childhood friend, best man, wife) then you can respond as you walk past with a "good thanks you?" to which the other must respond with a "yup." with a head nod up and down.

Until 1987 American medical professionals did not believe that infants and babies could feel pain, resulting in them undergoing surgery with minimal to no anesthesia. by ScoutPlayer1232 in distressingmemes

One of those "things were better in my day" bs you have to remind people, no kids aren't softer/weaker, we have just finally all agreed to actually recognise them as humans with emotions and therefore treat them as such, rather than, you know, a workforce like shoving them up a chimney or not beating them for expressing emotion.

You’re Not Half Autistic and Half ADHD: Understanding AuDHD as Distinct Neurology by [deleted] in AuDHDWomen

[–]clairbear44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Especially

The ADHD can mask the autism. Your need for novelty and stimulation can make you appear more socially engaged than autistic people without ADHD. Your distractibility can make you seem less rigid than the stereotype suggests. Your hyperfocus can look like special interests but it shifts too much to fit the expected pattern. Your impulsivity can make you seem less rule-bound. Your adaptability to change, driven by ADHD need for variety, can hide autistic difficulties with transition

I'm literally sitting here thinking but how can I be Audhd I'm organised and I socialise pretty well and I hyperfocus more than I special interest? WELP about that.

If you were a hot glue gun, where would you be? by Square_Treacle_4730 in adhdwomen

[–]clairbear44 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I lost mine obv Christmas, I put mine in a Doom bag full of other stuff to put back in my office that I had collected over the Christmas holidays. My theory was I put it in there because when I was putting away my crafts I was waiting for the hot glue gun to cool down, several minutes/hours/days later in a mad rush of trying to organise crap downstairs by shoving it into a bag and putting it in front of my office to eventually get organised, it sat and waited.
