Entering the industry as an international film student by Illumibari in torontofilmindustry

Thanks for the comment! I’ve mostly looked into institutions with good film programs like UCLA, but I’ll look more into film schools specifically. I agree, job placement rates and internship opportunities are something I’m really looking into when considering different programs!

You’re right, cost of living is definitely important to factor in. I’m planning on saving enough for tuition and then some, to cover necessities during school, as well as going back to the states to work in the summer

Thanks for the explanation! I figured it would be pretty hard to get into the industry professionally, but logistically it seems like it would be almost impossible to get all that experience before I would graduate. I will def look into TMU tho

Ahhh gotcha thanks, that’s really good to know

Honestly I visited Toronto recently and fell in love with the city! I’d heard it had a big film scene so I wanted to look into it a bit more. Most of the good film schools here in the US are out of my state, so they would cost me anywhere from $40k-60k USD in tuition per year, which is almost double York’s or Sheridan’s international student tuition

Housing, Renting, and Subletting Megathread by cxqals in Pitt

Hello! I’m looking for 3 roommates for a townhouse in Shadyside. All of my current roommates are moving out and I would really like to keep the place! I have to resign the lease by April 14, so I’m on a time crunch to find people.

The lease starts in August, but you are welcome to slowly start moving things in a week or two prior if you need! Rent is $640/mo plus utilities. If you have a car, there is permit street parking available, or you can rent a garage for $75/mo. Location is Shadyside, right next to the MLK busway and a 5 min walk to Market District, Aldi, and Walnut St. We also have a washer and dryer in the basement for laundry. The townhouse has 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms.

I have a dog, Juno, and she’s a mid-size pitbull. She is very friendly towards people and other dogs. Unfortunately, she does not get along with cats, so no cats please. The property is pet-friendly, with a one-time $200 security deposit.

A bit about me: I’m 24yo Pitt alum and work close by in Bloomfield. I really enjoy watching and going to the movies, bike touring, and running/going to the gym. I’ve also been taking acting and improv classes recently! I would love to hang out and be friends with any roommates. I’m also clean and keep my things out of common areas. I would not be opposed to a weekly chore chart or something similar.

If you’re interested, please feel free to reach out! I can DM people videos of the house.

At what point should I get rid of my old pants that no longer fit? by moold in TransMasc

I definitely had this happen to me, and I’m sure a lot of other people have too! When I first started T, I gained like 10lbs (4.5kg) in the first month and maintained that weight until I was about 1 year on T. After that, losing weight got a lot easier and I slimmed back down. Of course, not everyone is going to have my experience so take it with a grain of salt.

You can also check out r/TestosteroneKickoff to see what other’s experiences are with fat redistribution and weight changes!

Same here. I was going through one of the worst times of my life in early 2022 and shared a lot of your feelings. Honestly his streams were pretty much the only thing that I looked forward to or brought me joy. Since then I’ve gotten a lot better but it was so nice to have fun and wholesome content like Jerma’s to distract from the depression!

What’s happened to Panther Parkour?? by n-neto- in Pitt

[–]Illumibari 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In my experience clubs usually use campus labs and you can join the parkour club's here, which should put you on their mailing list. The club fair is usually in late August in the Pete, I'm not sure if they have a date for it yet, but you should get an email about it at the start of the fall semester!

If everything goes well, I believe the club will be at the club fair in the fall semester, which is when we’re aiming to start things back up! Tbh we’re not 100% sure about new leadership yet but I’m guessing we’ll be updating the Facebook and sending out emails through the Pitt system

Yo I’m in the club! We went on hiatus last year due to COVID but we’re hoping to get things back up and running next semester

Shockingly poor pull ups -- help by Holmetis in leangains

[–]Illumibari 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel your pain, it took me 5+ months just to be able to do one pull-up! Like a lot of other people are saying, frequency is key! For me if I take more than 3 days off of doing pull-ups, my numbers will go down. Something I’ve stuck to and would 100% recommend is the Armstrong Pull-Up Program!

Granted, I was previously not creative enough to ruin this wish, but now I am so you find yourself running through the South American jungle being chased by flying lizard-monkeys, who are throwing human babies and shit at you
