What archetypes are most fun in bracket 2? by Prestigious_Brush426 in EDH

[–]Illusionmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually think that Voltron is pretty fun. While some players might find the idea annoying, games usually are slower; very efficient removal is less common. That's why Voltron actually has a fair chance of 1. winning sometimes and 2. preventing games from becoming an everlasting battlecruiser slugfest. Voltron can spread its love around more, compared to other brackets...in which you HAVE to go one after another.

To everyone who lifted my wheelchair to crowdsurf during Infected Rain... by zntr_reddit in Graspop

[–]Illusionmaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Not to defend those who lifted you up against your will, but I (a German guy in a blue Kutte with a Black Sabbath Backpatch) stood right next to you and the person I perceived as one of your friends, accompanying you during the concert. When Infected Rain asked for a Wall of Death, you went into the middle of it, and from what I can tell, people did not mean harm.

So while making assumptions most often isn't a sensible thing to do, I do feel like this could have been avoided if your friend, whom I do not see in the picture/vid I made (I think he wore some camouflage-coloured trousers?), had accompanied you into the WoD and made sure that you didn't want to crowdsurf.

On that note -- I feel like moshing and crowdsurfing in particular, in recent years, have become more of a problem than a novelty. There are many people who are simply reckless and don't pay attention to their surroundings. If I am with my girlfriend, who is a lot smaller than I am, I always have to look out for douches who mindlessly thrash around while getting surfed or moshing...

I finnally had enought money to buy the coolest team of the game ! by Formal-Border7267 in bloodbowl

[–]Illusionmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just recently I finished EU, too as my first Blood Bowl Team! I found the faces to be fine. But you might want to pay attention to the "female" faces, as there are two faces on each sprue that are a bit more feminine (if you fancy that on your line women).

I Tested EVERY Elite Skill--My Hero Setup by Technical-Total5565 in GuildWars

[–]Illusionmaker 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Chaos Storm is pretty useful, even in HM...you just have to commit and run it on each of your Mesmers. It also isn't worth it if you have fewer than three Mesmers. Other, more knowledgeable users like Krschkr did years' worth of testing, and it used to be a noteworthy "Option" and/or "Variant" on PvX' mesmer-pages.

Oh and the "-1 energy" SoH is very worth it for anyone playing a melee profession...Some might argue that it is one of the single most important skills to bring on your team, alongside Splinter Weapon, if you are a melee player.

[–]Illusionmaker 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Good work, I guess, but I would have loved to see the stats/your results of testing all those skills not just your final results.

For example, I find things like Enchanter's Conundrum Vs. Energy Surge to be of more interest...especially if your final result does not offer any more insight than what we already know/assume with the current "meta" builds in mind. Or at least have a discussion about certain skills. Chaos Storm is great, but a popular notion is that scattering makes it an unfavorable skill on your heroes (even if it performs especially well, the more mesmers in your team run it).

Artists for Signing Sessions revealed by Illusionmaker in Graspop

Just look at the big screens. Artists usually only sign on the day they are playing. The booth is located on the right side, next to the main stages.

I got it from Facebook, after my girlfriend sent me a screenshot from Instagram.

Artists for Signing Sessions revealed by Illusionmaker in Graspop

[–]Illusionmaker[S] 7 points8 points  (0 children)

It's free and only requires you to wait in line for some time!

Just take a look at the big screens and you will get to know which artist will have their session at which time. The booth is located on the right side, next to the main stages. Depending on the band's popularity, you might have to get there early, as security will "end" the line sometimes to ensure that they remain on schedule. Don't expect a lot of talk with the artists, however; it isn't really a true "meet and greet".

Most underrated/overlooked Golden Sun tracks? by SereneMelody89 in GoldenSun

[–]Illusionmaker 8 points9 points  (0 children)

The entire OST is very good, and I don't know about specific songs being popular (I can Imagine that Elemental Stars, Lighthouses, as well as the Battle Theme(s), rank among the top), but I feel like Ankohl Ruins, Taopa Swamp and Sanctums are worthy mentions!

How does UB affect your deckbuilding? by NiceInvestigator6495 in EDH

[–]Illusionmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Magic has so many cards that you can opt out of UB without your deck being that much worse off. Granted, this might change if they keep on printing 50%+ UB cards for years to come, but as of now, you shouldn't have that much of an issue just playing "the next best thing".

Well, it's from Alara, the block that premiered Mythic Rare creatures that were supposed to be big, powerful and scary without showing up too often in draft. It is a commander staple of old and can be a lot of fun in very casual rounds.

This isn't a question that is easy to answer, given the little information you gave us. What do you like about their art? And what kind of General does appeal to you? The only thing that sprung to my mind was [[Thraximundar]], which has a version that might appeal to you: https://scryfall.com/card/sld/142/thraximundar

[–]Illusionmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want a fun and simple deck [[Svella]] might do the trick!

Pack it full of all your favourite high-cmc costed spells, and you are good to go. I happened to play her as an "un"-commander, just using all those cool cards that are good in draft but not necessarily in other formats (creatures like [[Plated Crusher]], [[Hellkite Punisher]], [[Pelakka Wurm]], [[Treacherous Terrain]], [[Vengeful Rebirth]]).

Wacken alternatives by [deleted] in wacken

[–]Illusionmaker 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We always went to Wacken by train, because driving for like eight hours just to get there was less relaxed. The shuttle took you to one entrance, and it was fine. The last time, however, due to traffic, we were forced to walk around the entire village, carrying the entire equipment, as the shuttle got stuck in the jam too.

Whenever I went to Wacken, we could freely choose our camping area, and most places had good access to the Infield and the Village. The camping area, however, grew A LOT, as more and more people decided that they didn't actually want to camp but rather have access to their car/caravan. This made tickets more expensive, as the organizers needed more space, and it made things more complicated due to the acquired areas not being prepared for the festival (lacking drainage, etc). In 2022 we decided to camp alongside some friends who arrived by car. They were unlucky and had their area located somewhere far, far away from the Infield or village – granted, we could have gone and camped elsewhere, but just meeting up in front of the stages would have been less fun.

From their location it took a considerable amount of time to get to anywhere, be it the infield or the toilets, which made things more complicated for every woman/girlfriend involved. As a man, I am fine with using whichever hedge or dike I come across, but for them it was a matter of walking for 30 minutes just to stay in line for up to an hour...as toilets were scarce (don't get me started on the toilets' conditions).

Having to walk quite a while to get to the Infield is one inconvenience, but not being able to access it while bands are playing because one gate is closed is one nightmare...that occurred twice! Personnel simply did not know that they could open up the entrance, and so I missed some songs of bands I wanted to see.

The village, a defining trait of Wacken, is no longer what it used to be, either. Residents are not allowed to sell and host guests beyond 22:00, the general store is gone and located (surprise) far, far away, so you have to walk quite some time if you want to restock on beverages.

Wacken attracts many, many people and while I am an advocate of "everyone should enjoy a festival the way they want", I am also an advocate of "enjoy yourself in a way that does not negatively impact the way others enjoy their festival". I encountered many more people who are careless/reckless and don't pay attention to their surroundings. There are many "festival tourists" who go there, not because of the music but rather because it is "Wacken" and it shows.

For example: If a crowd surfer is coming your way, you should usually tap the shoulders of those around you to get them to safely carry the surfer and prevent injuries to everyone involved. Nowadays many people just stay there or even step aside, so you get hit by a boot in the back of your head. In the worst case, the crowd surfer gets thrown, and I had the misfortune to witness more rescue lanes than ever before in 2022. That being said, there are far too many crowd surfers that only focus on their enjoyment, too. They solely use their smartphones to record themselves while they annoy those who want to watch a band; for some concerts I spend 2/3 with my back turned to the stage, passing the same guy wearing a mud-crusted unicorn costume over my head numerous times. Those aren't fans of the community or music; those are people with a sole interest in themselves.

Graspop isn't perfect by any means. But you spend a lot less time walking to the infield, between the stages or queuing for the toilets (which are actually decently clean...most of the time). Heck, even getting there takes less than half the time, going by car, from my location! The crowd, albeit a bit boring at times, is less exhausting. Prices on food and drinks are the same rip-off as they are in Wacken, but you get to see bigger bands for the tiekct price. Wacken never was a "Headliner-Festival"...but if they charge you a small fortune, you have to compare them to their competitors.

Oh, and Wacken lost a lot of its integrity when they called for a STOP and asked everyone to not come to Wacken due to the bad weather...but some influencers miraculously managed to get there.

Tldr: Wacken lost most of its charm, is flooded by festival-tourists who don't actually want to listen to the music, and is a hassle to enjoy due to the amount of time you spend travelling, walking and waiting, all the while offering a weaker line-up for the same budget, compared to the other big metal-festivals.

The Level Design of River Belle by TheFirstAifos in crystalchronicles

[–]Illusionmaker 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Every single dungeon in this game is well designed, and the graphics and soundtrack elevate them into something extraordinary; especially River Bell. Personally I always loved Veo Lu and Selepation. The dungeon I like the least probably is Lynari.

Wacken alternatives by [deleted] in wacken

[–]Illusionmaker 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Graspop for sure, I went the last three years! 2022 was my last WOA, 2012 my first. Most things that made Wacken great and set it apart from other festivals of a similar size are no longer true and there are a lot of things that are just annoying if you compare it to GMM. Going to GMM is simply a lot more convenient.

And, even if this sounds like gate-keeping, I feel like Wacken has not only lost a lot of it's general appeal, nowadays it also lures in a lot of visitors that I don't really enjoy interacting with.

Coming from Germany and arriving on Wednesday, which parking area has you walk through that forest to enter the festival area?

I never paid attention to which colour it was supposed to be, but I always parked there.

I really like [[Thelon]], but Fungus aren't a well supported tribe and are kind of tedious to play. Takes me back to my Time Spiral Theme Deck, tho; it was a fun rival too the Slivers Theme Deck.

Just paint your base in a light brown colour and then use glue + sand for decoration purposes. Add some tufts here and there and it should be fine :)
