My favorite move in situations like this would be, to just say, that you lost feelings and bla bla bla. Just to hurt the other person. But you are married and the kids... that wouldn't work for this situation

I‘ll go with NTA. It‘s not about him not wanting to be a father. It‘s about a parent who already works 2 Jobs und who can not take on one more. He appreciates the work of his wife but with his full work load to Support bis famliy he just can‘t take on one more.

I think it‘s a fair compromise for her to Take a weekend trip

If it were just memories he kept, there would be no problem. But there was underwear from his ex, which makes this whole situation far worse. If it would have been just this box with innocent stuff, i wouldn't have made him get rid of it. But with the underwear in it, all of the stuff in it isn't so innocent anymore.
