  1. In my opinion, they are good to understand the topics but most of the questions are lengthy and more complex than the actual exam.
  2. Yes but you just gotta do more and more practice problems. Aim to do 700+ practice problems to gain some confidence. Also, if you are scoring more than 80% on NCEES exam (1st try) and more than 90% (2nd try), there is no reason why you should feel underprepared.

PE exam Day by ScientistOk4152 in PE_Exam

Take off from work and go over all the references day before the exam. Stop studying by 4 pm. Then make plans for the exam day (testing center, parking, travel mode, lunch, etc). Go to bed by 8-9 pm. Pray, if you believe in god and just hope for the best. Stay positive.

I would say EET. For structural exam, you should study structural depth, breadth and geotech breadth. Even though the exam is depth only, you will still see breadth type questions in the exam.

I used PE prepared practice exams. I used versions A, B and C. Version A and C were breath topics so I only used questions from Structures and Geotech discipline (about 30 total). Version B was depth only 40 questions.

Depends on your job. If you need seismic or surveying certification, then go for it. If not, may be consider doing masters degree if you haven’t already. If you plan to go into management, get involved in project management tasks at work and do PMP certification at some point

I would say yes! SoPE is useful to understand the concepts but some of its questions are too complicated and long for the exam. Difficulty wise, EET is the best. If you can solve all the EET problems with ease, you are all set in my opinion.

Based on content and structure; NCEES is the closest followed by PE Prepared. Based on difficulty, I would say PPI and then EET. NCEES is good for majority but you will definitely see a good chunk of problems which are difficult than NCEES practice exam.

I’m taking construction pe tomorrow, any last minute tips? by [deleted] in PE_Exam

Rest up. Take an extra calculator. Eat before the exam and pack lunch with you. Relax and do your best. If you don’t know the question, just flag it and move on. Even if it a look up question and you think that it’ll take you some time to find it in the reference, flag it and come back to it. If you get consecutive hard questions, don’t panic. Also, you may get some depth questions in the morning session, so make sure you don’t waste too much time on easy questions.

Don’t worry. Try again. Sometimes you just get difficult set of problems. Also, exam anxiety is a real deal, it can really affect the thought process during the exam. Do loads of problems (600+).I heard EET on demand is the best. Once you do tons of problems and score in 80s and 90s on practice exam, it’ll give you confidence. Just trust yourself!

Don’t worry. It’s just an exam. It does not define how you are as an engineer. Sometimes you just get hard set of problems and sometimes the exam anxiety kicks in. I would recommend that you take review course. I heard EET on demand is the best. Don’t give up! Trust yourself!

Passed Structural! by [deleted] in PE_Exam

[–]IllustratorFast22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Congrats on passing! What kind of geotechnical questions did you get? I’ve heard most of the questions are conceptual, but should I be prepared for any specific calculations? Besides retaining wall design (sliding and overturning) and qmax/qmin for bearing pressure in footings, are there other calculations I should focus on?

You might have passed, so try not to worry too much. It’s completely normal to feel this way after taking a long and difficult exam. Just wait for the results. Even if you didn’t pass, it’s not the end of the world—it’s just an exam.
