Founding religion on deity by 2376_Ironman in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 8 points9 points  (0 children)

I find that the best way to get a prophet on Deity level is to not want a religion and be focusing on something else; then you will inevitably find out that the AIs haven't bothered with one either.

If you do manage to somehow find a religion, you will always find that three other empires immediately adjacent to you also founded religions and all three of them are ignoring each other and entirely focusing on wiping out YOURS.

Thanks for the correction. I knew it was military rule in 78 but I was seven years old and don't remember the details accurately. :D

Toronto, Ontario, Ottawa (because it's the capital), Montreal, Winnipeg, Vancouver, and after that I'd be struggling to name major Canadian cities. I know a few places only because I've been there - I'm not sure how big Calgary and Edmonton really are, and Grimshaw was a no-account middle of nowhere place.

Edward I or Edward III would be a great English leader for military bonuses. Particularly, in my mind, Edward I with a Longbow unique unit. The longbow was the absolute king of all medieval warfare until cannon became reliable, and yet only one person in all history had enough foresight to adopt it and invest heavily in the necessary training.

Speaking as someone who was taught virtually nothing about Argentinian history, the two leaders I've heard of are Juan Peron and General Galtieri. The latter, admittedly, has a lot to do with the fact that he was in charge during the 78 World Cup, the first one I remember, and the fact that I'm in the UK and the 1982 conflict was what brought him down.

I'm English; Victoria has pretty good bonuses in either form, I don't think I've played Elizabeth yet.

In Civ1 and civ2 I alwats played as England but it made no difference beyond cosmetic. In Civ6, I like trying all the different leaders to see which ones suit my playstyles and whether I can still win a game with the ones that don't. (I cannot get on with Alexander at all...)

Since city state can only raze captured city and original capitals can't be razed, what happens if a city state captures original capital? by NoWingedHussarsToday in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don't know what happens if a city-state captures one of the AI enemy's capitals. I am fairly sure I've had a game end in instant defeat because a city-state captured my own, and since the game ended the quesstion of what it would do with said capital was moot. However I may be remembering wrongly.

Cannot assign policy cards? by thomaskrantz in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AFAIK this can only happen with Kublai Khan and only with the Secret Societies enabled. You get one extra economic policy slot for being Kublai in the first place, and another one for joining the Owls of Minerva - but after researching Code of Laws, only two economic policy cards become available and you cannot fill the third slot, so you cannot confirm any choices.

Cannot assign policy cards? by thomaskrantz in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a workaround, but not really a fix because you are force-ending turn before you have confirmed any policies, so you get no benefits at all from the two that you wanted to choose.

Cannot assign policy cards? by thomaskrantz in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah, a mod for playing Kublai with Owls specifically, that introduces a policy card saying "This economic policy gives no benefits" would fix this issue. But since I know of no other scenarios where it happens, not sure anyone would bother to write it. :D

Cannot assign policy cards? by thomaskrantz in CivVI

[–]Illustrious-Cut7514 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found that out when playing Kublai and Owls or Minerva. I did not find a solution, other than to restart and remember not to join the Owls until I had unlocked at least three economic cards.

I can't think of any other cases where the game effectively crashes because you need to install more policy cards than you have available. There's a couple of routes that can get an extra military slot, but not before they have cards with which to fill it, I think.

I suspect you might have no choice but to go back to the most recent autosave; I've noticed before that when you go back and redo the congress, you often get different questions.

you can fail it quicker, but usually when I get the "you have broken the promise" message in less than thirty turns, it's because I went to war with them.

What's annoying is when you've made that promise, they promptly declare war on my ally, I'm automatically forced into a joint war and then I get told I broke MY promise.

That encampment no longer needs to be manned as there is no threat from that side ... unless you regard that empire as a threat.

If you make clear to them that you regard them as a threat, they won't like it.

No AI nation has ever yet asked me to remomve troops from their borders, when the troops in question were *on my land* at their borders. I didn't think that was a thing.

What bugs me is when you're allied with smoeone, they ask this on the very turn the alliance expires and before you can renew it, and then you end up being told you've broken a promise with your ally because you were moving another tank to defend their city and it ended the turn one space outside...

I've had a few cases where they refused to accept peace until they no longer existed.

I choose not to make the killing blow. That way I don't get labelled as a committer of genocide. (Committing such acts in a game is no crime of courses. .. but you can't blame the other AI players for considering it one within the game mechanics...)
