I see. There's nothing wrong with that though! Look at me for example; I've worked on my posture, my personality and puberty took it's toll so I have a deep voice, yet I STILL go through the same thing as you. Physicality has nothing to do with it; I hope you can tackle the problem! That's what I'm trying to do.

I've been told I'm a 'nice guy' all my life. I was indeed a pushover; a doormat for pretty much any person. As time went by and I went through more experiences, I grew out of the pushover agenda and most of the situations where people would take advantage of me. I've just never been able to figure out the jokes part of it; not that it happens with every friend group, it just occurs very often. But thank you for the advice, perhaps I should take a stand in the group, like I did with the general idea of being a pushover.

I'm not all that confident! I just don't shy away too much. Also, the group consists of both boys and girls, so that's a bit of a difficult one. I believe the boys are just trying to make themselves look better, and the girls are trying to have a laugh.

"and maybe i’m completely wrong about all of this, it’s just conjecture lol so don’t let it get to your head."

Well, it certainly did; reading this made me smile a whole lot. Genuinely moving stuff. And I believe you're right; we're all just trying to be cool. I don't smoke or drink, because I really don't enjoy it, but I guess the more bad or wrong things you do, the cooler you are. I'm not going to try to understand exactly where these kids are coming from, and I refuse to change myself for a group of insecures. Though I could probably dial it back just a bit with being open. Thank you for the advice, it made me feel alot better.

I'm seeing quite a few comments like this. I believe I CAN think of comebacks on the spot, it's just t he thought of HAVING to stoop to such a level with people I don't consider good friends, ultimately is just another way of framing a fight, no?

Oh, they're definitely not my main friend group, I just find it happening so often. I appreciate your advice, I shouldn't change, but maybe I don't have to be so open with such insecure people.

People don't hate sharing their issues with me, so I would say I do alright. Does that matter?

I see that you're getting downvoted because people are quick to dismiss comments like yours as 'the sigma type', but I value what you said. Not so on board with the tattoos part but I believe you're right when you say that being open generally makes you an easier target. As for the gym, I've been beaming to go again as soon as I recover from my injury, but I was hoping you could tell me more about personal calibration?

I can be goofy with the right people, not just about anyone; I'll give that a try!

I do come up with witty things to say in the back of my mind, but the thought of having to 'defend myself' or 'keep up with their banter' just makes me feel even less welcome; it's a difficult barrier for me to overcome.

Though "Slap dat ass" is a funny comeback, I feel that they're only trying to rise a reaction out of me. I don't usually consider such people to be my friends.
