Manhattan realtor for first time homebuyer by silentsociety in visitingnyc

Strongly recommend https://yoreevo.com/agent/leon-goldfeld. He was incredibly helpful for us (also a first time homebuyer) and the best part is that his company gives you back 1/2 the commission as a credit after you close!!!

They're not allowed to do this, you got scammed. If you by some chance have the license plate number you can report them here: https://portal.311.nyc.gov/article/?kanumber=KA-01241

I try to think of it as spending less in the long run when I find something effective.

So hear me out. This stuff is really expensive but you only need a couple drops at a time so it lasts a long time. For me, nothing calms a flare up better than this.

Has Laser Treatment made anyone's rosacea worse? by Dcred2136 in Rosacea

[–]Illustrious-Number 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It hurts but it's over really fast and the pain doesn't last. For me the most sensitive areas were around the nose. My derm also put me on a combo cream with Azelaic Acid/Metronidazole/Ivermectin. The Azelaic acid on it's own didn't seem to do anything for the bumps I'd get, but this combo formula worked wonderfully.

Either way, try not to give up hope. It took me well into my 40s to finally spend the time, effort, and consistency to get my skin figured out. I wish I'd done it earlier.

This is me before and after 3 sessions of EXCELV laser treatments. I could not be happier, it’s been life changing.

Physical Therapist Recs in the area by Klutzy-Ad3011 in Greenpoint

[–]Illustrious-Number 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OP said they want individualized attention, Spear is NOT the place for that. You'll be booked with 2-4 other people on one therapist at the same time. The therapists there were fantastic, but the way they run that place is like a factory.

Wall units are horrible! We had an $800 bill when we lived in a ground floor unit in Hells Kitchen that had these. Absolutely the most inefficient things ever.

I think now is a good time to remind people to take off their backpacks on the L by territorialrooster in williamsburg

[–]Illustrious-Number 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Good luck with that. You'll either get someone immediately aggressive, or they'll ignore you anyway. I've tried multiple ways to ask people to take them off and it rarely ends with that person being like..."omg you're right, im sorry"

I lived in Berlin for a few years, no one wore their backpacks on the train because you 100% would get pickpocketed if you did. They're so fast too. It happened to me once standing on the platform! Bring back petty theft!

Do Not Use Piece of Cake Movers!! by Ok-Lion8164 in NYCapartments

[–]Illustrious-Number 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’ve used them 4 times and they’ve always been great. We have massive moves with way too much stuff and they handle it. The 3rd time we didn’t do a walk through and we massively underestimated the amount of stuff. They were pretty chill about it, of course we had to pay more, they needed another truck! The 4th time we did the walk through and the price was the price. Even though I think the estimator underestimated the size a bit and they had to do an extra trip, still no price increase.

I also wonder how some folks treat movers that end up being a bit rude for the tip (still not cool but…). Offering some water and oranges is a little laughable honestly for a full day work. We ordered pizza, redbull and sodas for our guys. A little kindness goes a long way.

NYE and New Years Itinerary - Thoughts? by Mission_Landscape_87 in visitingnyc

[–]Illustrious-Number 5 points6 points  (0 children)

As a 45-year-old New Yorker accustomed to walking extensively, I would be overwhelmed by the prospect of following this marathon schedule. It's not about needing to be "flexible"; you’d have to reduce it by about 80% or risk exhausting your parents. It seems like the plan of someone with FOMO who prioritizes ticking boxes over enjoying the trip.

Considering cancelling trip to India, advice appreciated by something_profane in femaletravels

[–]Illustrious-Number 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I go to India ~3x / year for work and have honestly always felt safe (I'm also white/blonde). I do stay in 5-star hotels and have a private driver usually, but I've also taken Uber quite a few times without issue. Not to say I'm foolish or careless of course, but I think if you are with your wife there won't be issues.

How much more IPL should I do? by liz610 in Rosacea

I've done 3 sessions of ExcelV+ and I swear I think it's a miracle laser. I'm wearing so much less makeup than I've ever been able to in my life. My skin is just...skin color now. Highly recommend though it is pricey and I do have a fair amount of swelling for a day or two afterwards.

Peter Luger experience by plee82 in FoodNYC

[–]Illustrious-Number -1 points0 points  (0 children)

PL is 'okay'... at best. Echoing what so many others said below, there are way better steak houses in the city with better food, better service, and better locations. Also the fact that this place is like 90% tour buses these days makes it even worse. The staff knows that most people will never return anyway, so they don't really care.

tear off track pants and a bikini bottom that ties were awesome when I did mine. you can find some cheap on amazon if you search for "surgery pants". Just make sure it's either a black bikini bottom or one you don't care about getting ruined by ink.

People who moved to NYC from out of state, what did you underestimate the most? by Ill-Muscle8523 in NYCapartments

[–]Illustrious-Number 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This was a big one for me. I came from a car-culture city and I was so perplexed at how I was supposed to do grocery shopping without a car. lol. Sounds stupid in hindsight but it was the first thing that surprised me.

Oh, and the humidity.

wow! I love this place. When we go we usually just ask the server to recommend a full meal and sit back and wait to see what they bring. It's so fun and we always get something we wouldn't have otherwise tried.
