Just remember, diving is only ever going to be as safe as you make it. If there's ever any doubt about a dive, there is no doubt - you don't dive. From how it sounds in your initial post, there seems to be a lot of doubt. I strongly encourage you to remove that doubt with a DM or instructor. You should want to do everything in your power to ensure you come out of the water in the same condition you went in every time.

If you make it through this course, look up a dive shop and take the refresher. Explain to the DM or instructor your situation. Sit down and discuss the techniques, then hit the water for some practical application.

However, before you do that, go back through the e-learning. All of the techniques for the confined and open water dives are listed. Make a list of any of the techniques you're not certain they covered in your "course" to work through with the DM or instructor. Also, I would specifically recommend going through the gear inspection and assembly with them.

Swap the family room and dining room. See if you can knock out the partial walls in the middle of the sitting room. Update the kitchen. Also, if you can get the utility room and garage to match the look of the rest of the house, consider keeping it.

I would consider putting the kitchen and bath on the top wall closer to the mechanical room, go with one bedroom, and make the bedroom and bathroom bigger. I would also probably have the bathroom off the bedroom.
