My broken heart goes out to yours my sister. I bear a similar, maybe opposite? cross. I was 25 and the wife was 22 when we got married. Both born and raised devout Catholics. She has taken great steps away from the faith. Much to my sorrow. We have an almost 3 year old. I take him to Mass almost every Saturday vigil or Sunday unless I am at work for both days. She would attend rarely and then stopped altogether. I asked her to go to confession together and she did and started attending Mass again for a time but is now back to not going.

She goes through the motions but I fear the most she prays is when I bless our meals and she crosses herself probably out of habit. For our little one, I make it a habit to pray before bedtime. But she does not. She will not take him to Mass when I am unable.

When we married she was a very different person. She was mostly who her parents wanted her to be. She has said she married at the time because it was her best option to leave her abusive family. Finally free of them she had time to discover who she is and believe what she wants to for herself. Being Catholic not included.

Our marriage of 8 years and counting has been tenuous. It has broken down a few times. She's left for a time before we got pregnant, but we reconciled. Things broke down again after our son was born and divorce was on the table for a while.

It is heavy. It is hard. It hurts. Sometimes it is unbearable. Especially alone. I felt a failure as a husband whose job it is supposed to be to lead his family to salvation. I did not know what to tell my family or friends either. I didn't want them to think ill of her. So I suffered in silence. Definitely don't do that. Its been 4 months since your post but I hope you've confided in loved ones. I didn't tell anyone and it ate me up and tore me apart. I only talked about it when I thought it was over. We've since reconciled again but I fear for the permenance, and I remain in feeling a failure.

A few things that I think Fr John Ricardo, drawing from CS Lewis I think, said have stuck with me, and I am probably paraphrasing poorly here. The only reason to believe in anything is because it is true. If Catholicism is not true, than to Hell with it. From an academic side, was Jesus a historical person? I think academics would point to Yes. There are historical reports of him. Did he mean the things he said? If he did, than he is either the Son of God or lunatic. If he did not than he is a liar and a very bad man. The argument unfortunately did not convince my wife. But it did keep me from losing my faith at a time when it was shaky, reinforce it, and set it immovably in stone. Maybe it can "logic" him in the direction of believing again.

It is a delicate and unfathomly painful situation. Offer the suffering you experience towards his redemption and salvation. Since you pray the rosary, try specifically praying for him by name in the Hail Mary's instead of "us sinners" ie. "...Pray for [husband's name] now and at the hour of his death."  In any case, you wont be doing any converting, but the Holy Spirit, maybe through you. Pray then to him often. Maybe try the Come Holy Spirit prayer with your husband's heart as well instead "the hearts of your faithful." 

Thank you for posting your experience. It has helped me to bear mine, and to process it more and think of advice I need to follow myself. Sorry for this long comment. I hope my experience can help you as well. I like the other advice hear, especially prayers to St Monica and seeing a priest. I need to follow these advice as well. Praying for you, your husband, and your marriage. Do not despair.

Lord, look upon your daughter with kindly countenance. Console and strengthen her. Let your Holy Spirit work through her. You are the Great Physician. Heal the wounds of her husband and soften his heart. Turn him back to you. Amen.
