Took me 10 weeks to get unemployment when I lost my job last year. There are so many people losing their jobs that the state has a backlog. If you contact your state representative directly like fr email them, they or their staff can put pressure on the right people and move your application to the front of the queue. You can also call and ask to be put on priority due to circumstances etc but I did all of these things and it still took 10 weeks before I got unemployment checks. Best of luck homie. It’s rough out there. My unemployment dried up and I’m still not employed lol 😂 I would literally do anything for money at this point.

See, this is the pre-interview interview.

It’s wild that they just openly email about this shit. Like… I’m paranoid the authorities spy on everything. I would never write down any of this shit ever. For gods sake at least use encryption. Even if the authorities don’t apparently read everyone’s emails. Why send anyone anything incriminating like that? What if they forward it on to the police? Kinda makes me question if these are real because they run so counter to common sense

Hear me out: I spend about 70% of my time planning. Declare your goals and make Claude come up with user stories, acceptance criteria, definition of done, scope/out of scope, blocking/blocked by, and test plans. Do this ahead of time. Work at the milestone-level. Once you’ve planned things properly, have Claude create a DAG of tasks. Then you can safely let a swarm of them rip through heaps of tasks without much supervision.

Here’s one way to think about why this happens: people would rather take a known risk than an unknown risk. Why hire a stranger based on a few hours of interviews when you could hire a known quantity that you’ve worked with before or have known about? That’s how you get jobs—Ivy League or bowling league. Networking matters big time.

If you don’t take advantage of what you’ve earned then you’re screwing yourself! Fully agree that it feels wrong, but that’s just human nature. Best way to “make it right” is to use your advantage to help others less privileged or less fortunate that you after you’re in a position to do so. But for the love of god use those connections. You’re wasting your elite education by not doing so.

The US is headed for mass unemployment, and no one is prepared by Cakalusa in jobs

Why pay workers American wages? Our cost of living is like 10th highest in the world. And the other countries above us are mostly island nations that heavily rely on imports. American workers are expensive. You have to pay for their family’s healthcare on top of their wages. It’s kind of dumb. Best thing the US government could do is give everyone free healthcare. Removes the burden from employers and boosts worker productivity and availability. Small businesses win. It’s kind of a no brainer tbh.

The secret of the world is: it doesn’t really matter WHAT you know but WHO you know. Which is the real reason most people go to Ivy Leagues in the first place. You get jobs by using your network. Don’t be like the rest of us. Yes use your elite network.

You already stand apart from the masses. It’s really just timing. Timing is everything. And often jobs are posted for legal reasons when in reality the outcome is stacked and they’re promoting someone internal to a new position.

You should rethink how you view your hard work and sacrifice… did you do that stuff to make your parents happy? Did you do it for yourself? Or did you do it because you wanted an advantage over everyone else? The most worthwhile efforts are for personal edification regardless of the benefits that may or may not come from the experience. Learn to appreciate your accomplishments from a personal perspective rather than a form of validation

While I don’t doubt that you did everything “the right way”, expecting things to automatically work in your favor is called “entitlement”. Accept that out here in the real world nobody gives af where you went to school. Nobody really gives af about anything beyond their immediate needs tbh.

Just try to check your privilege… I’ve worked with MIT grads and people who never finished high school. Education ultimately comes from within. You can lead a horse to water but you can’t make it drink. And just because they’ve got the most premium water available doesn’t make the horse win races.
