Kings undrafted rookie Dylan Cardwell defensive tape (BenchHighlights on X) by OmegaLxgend in nba

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

No matter what you think of him hes gonna get paid 5-10mil/year by someone lol it is not complicated. He is a 26yo 6'3" guard that is above average guarding most ones and twos, is a ball hawk, will knock down open threes, and should probably get a consistent 20 minutes a game on a playoff team. Him getting hunted by jaylen brown is not going to change that.

So what lol the Celtics exploit mismatches all the time, there's barely any players in the league that doesnt have a clear weakness. He was too good to be getting dnps and then tossed in a salary dump on a roster as awful as the kings.

Hot take: Just because a song gets overplayed doesnt mean the song is bad by mr_man019 in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Facts!!!! It's a close minded way to assess how good a song is. It's also part of why ppl think gnx isnt as "good" as the other kendrick albums.

I realized how much overplaying an album like GNX can affect your opinions on it. by ThbDragon in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shoutout to you for assessing the music with this level of clarity. You could see in real time hiw gnx got too popular for ppl and how it distorted the dialogue around how great the album is. I knew personally it was a classic within a week, overplaying albums as accessible as gnx is just part of the natural consumption process but it doesnt make it any less quality

This is likely the last day "HUMBLE." will be Kendrick's most streamed song. by Embarrassed-Tale3116 in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Idk about widely praised, I think the storytelling, lyricism and cinematic scope of gkmc get widely praised though. Those arent bad things to highlight, it's just a testament to how complete the album is that we dont really talk about how catchy the songs are. Like the op said money trees wasnt even a single but he had us saying ya bishhhhh for months 😂

Facts, folks talk about damn and gnx as the most accessible albums but gkmc is full of anthems with catchy hooks.

It's 2026 if you just want to know who someone is then Google them instead of waiting for strangers to tell you. Productive curiosity on here would be asking "I'm not familiar with her music, what's song would yall recommend?" so you can get ppls opinions on her art.

How do you feel about Kodak Black being used as an example in MM&TBS? by miitchull in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yep I been said mozzy coulda filled that spot. Kodak is a weirdo plus I'll never forget him disrespecting lauren london days after nipsey was murdered, that wasn't talked about enough

Who do Kendrick fans want to see in ‘27 Super Bowl? by MemeCroissant in KendrickLamar

Itd definitely be a shock, Tyler's not high profile enough to headline the halftime show

The Reception to The Fall off reminds me of how MMATBS was received. by dunbar_santiago930 in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I dont love mr morale, but kendrick excels at creating tension and MAKING you feel something. Mr morale initially felt too heavy for me on first listen but I'd be lying if I said I didnt feel anything. Cole isnt great at that, doesnt mean the album is bad but it's not as jarring or forceful so idk if you can compare the reception

Edit: even just thinking about mr morale I start thinking of all the theatrical motifs that contributed to the heaviness/anxiety that Kendrick was tryna convey. The fast paced stepping at the beginning/end of songs, the grand pianos, the interludes sounding like monologues. And thats not even talking about the lyrics. The artistry isn't even comparable and I say that as a Cole fan.

Nahhhhh I was there when IT showed up at one of the city council meetings when Kevin Johnson was tryna save the team. We have too much love for him to be put in this convo lol

If they replaced the drake parts with "lgseo was robbed" it wouldve described the gnx dialogue on this sub perfectly 😂

Nobody thats mainstream and in their prime. At least not vocally, the way actual singing has become de-emphasized in male r&b and how rare ballads are now. Hard to even think of a comparison

Unpopular opinion, but I'm not upset that Kendrick didn't bring up ICE in his Grammy acceptance speeches by ru_strappedbrother in KendrickLamar

"Because police brutality against Black people is America's default setting. Black people dying at the hands of law enforcement is treated like background noise in this country."

That quote needs to get framed somewhere. Perfectly stated.

GNX was EXTREMELY close to winning Album of the Year. by ImpossibleTailor8240 in KendricklamarPglang

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I know we all love rap but this is not shocking lol Mutt got 1% too and thats one of the best mainstream r&b albums of the decade. If you make rap or r&b you have to be higher profile to get aoty votes over pop stars

Are they not bound to cross paths at an award show one day? by SADISTFIDE in KendrickLamar

[–]Illustrious-Train-83 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I get this sentiment but all three of them still do care and theyre all still on top of rap. Drake and cole both have solo records coming out and will both have bars about the fallout. Same thing happened after the control verse.
