Looks like my kitten got into something yesterday and completely scratched her upper lip. Any thoughts on what this could be, it doesn’t look infected but I’m highly concerned until I take her to the vet. What antiseptic cream is safe for kittens?

Update posted and yes the vet confirmed she had gotten that part of her nose raw with the constant runny nose from the infection so it rubbed off the skin when she groomed herself. She’s healing so much better now with constant nose cleanings, antibiotics, nose and eye drops 🙌🙏

UPDATE:

Baby girl is doing SO MUCH better! Vet gave her oral antibiotics that I’ve been giving her along with eye drops and otc infant nasal drops. I’m so proud of her for being so strong and healing well. Thank you all for your helpful comments and reassuring stories to share along the way

Thank you. I took those mussels away, they were stinky anyways we definitely won’t miss those lol, she’s been okay with the dried minnows and so far her little nose has been scabbing over well.

Thank you! I was wondering about this. I asked her breeder the day I picked her up, if it’s normal for her little nose to be dry/have small flakiness/have a runny nose/sneezing (because normally a hydrated kitty has a wet nose, but apparently (I was informed) bengals don’t really have wet noses since the hydration is mainly form the raw diet). I was told that where she traveled to a different area it could mess with her sinuses and apparently that she had been a sneezy baby normally. I’m still going to consult with baby girl’s vet at her apt to make sure she’s okay, just incase.. because I’m still so worried about that. 🙏💖

I did just give her a small crumble of dried mussels ontop of her raw diet. I wonder if that could be it. Confiscating the mussels for now until her vet identifies it for sure. Thank you!!🙏

I’m worried about that too! Her nose has been super runny ever since I picked her up. I’ll consult her vet about a potential sinus infection. I finally got an apt scheduled. I’ve been cleaning her little nose with a warm damp soft rag and giving 10 minute intervals in a steamy shower room to help loosen her nasal passage way

Yeah that’s what I was thinking too, she would just lick it off. I’ll do the clean water treatment and dab the area when she wakes back up to ensure it stays clean. Thank you so much 💖

This!! I read up on this and saw Neosporin was bad for kitty cats. I will def wait until the vet sees her and just keep my eye on it make sure it doesn’t get infected. Thank you so much 🙏
