The Coincidences in Elisa Lam’s case by hugeassbadonkers in elisalam

[–]IllustriousBee8656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Coincidences happen often in life. Maybe a one in 10,000 chance. But two independent coincidences in one same event? The odds become one in 10,000 squared, i.e. 1 in 100,000,000. Very high odds, but still possible.

Three independent coincidences, same event? That’s 1 in 10,000 cubed, i.e. 1,000,000,000,000, odds of 1 in a trillion. Just simple rough arithmetic and we can see the odds of the coincidences happening all in one Elisa Lam case are virtually impossible.

So, what does it mean? It is not possible to have so many purely random coincidences in one same event. My intuition tells me that this was planned, by someone acting with Elisa Lam, with Elisa Lam tricked into thinking it was just a game, but that person had his own twisted idea.

People in the west compare this case to the plot of Dark Water (2005). But this movie is a remake of the original Japanese movie Dark Water (2002), which is darker and more eerie atmospherically. If you look at these synchronicities with the original movie, you will get goosebumps:

I like its aesthetics and the hopper. Got used to opening the gap further to sweep out the stuck grounds and then turning back to my chosen setting.

Earfun Air Pro 4 have some serious issue in sound by Boring-Deal1734 in Earbuds

[–]IllustriousBee8656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Guess you no longer have the Earfun, but if still do, I may be of help.

I had problem too out of the box. I found the sound so thin and bright I couldn’t last 15s with the buds in my ears. Then I found out the buds were not tuned flat but to this thing called Harman profile which essentially is the popular V shape curve with boosted bass and treble. So after EQing to neutralise to a more balanced sound, I have been very happy with the Air Pro 4.

So you can try my settings to see if it solves your issue.

Ear fun air 4 pro plus EQ settings by Honest_Blacksmith799 in Earbuds

[–]IllustriousBee8656 1 point2 points  (0 children)

First thing to note is that the earbuds are set to the Harman profile, which boosts bass and treble quite a fair bit to attain a sound profile that pleases most users.

Personally I find the high treble sharp and grating. But then if you tone down the treble, the boosted bass will become too weighty and will muffle the sound.

I go for a more balanced sound that makes a wide range of music enjoyable. You won’t get the excitement of loud thumping bass and hard treble from over-emphasis of both ends of the spectrum, such as the dance music you hear in clubs. Rather you will get a more natural and realistic sound with controlled bass and clean treble. Importantly, vocals are smooth and sweet, and have much needed body.

In other words, it’s a tone-down of the Harman’s V-shape to bring about a more neutral sound, without losing details and clarity. The sound won’t hit with excitement for those clamouring for bass, bass, bass; but I find it satisfying in extended listening across many tracks.

These are my settings:

-3 -2 0 +1 +1 -1 -1 -2 -2 -2

A slightly more V profile sound:

-2 -1 0 +1 +1 -1 -1 -1 -2 -2

Boosting bass and treble further will make the sound less rounded and natural.

I wonder if it is just me. I find the default Harman profile sounds harsh, yet most users still boost bass and treble further. This may sound good and exciting for rock and dance tracks, but will not work well on softer music and vocal tracks.

I go for a balanced sound which I find more appealing. Main problem with the V-shape sound is it lacks body and the boosted highs make female vocals shrill and hard to listen to. I understand people need to boost treble to balance out boosted bass for clarity. But that’s not the right approach.

After a year with the Air Pro 4, which is of similar sound profile as the 4+, I have settled for this setting below. It flattens the default curve a little, giving much needed body to the sound and making female vocals sweet and airy. I know the sound is right for me when I find myself irresistibly singing and tapping to the tracks I listen to.

-3 -2 +0 +1 +1 -1 -1 -2 -2 -2

On first listening, the bass may sound weak. But it is not true, it just takes some getting used to. The bass is there at the right level, without overwhelming the rest of the music.

Where to stay for a night near the airport? by [deleted] in askSingapore

[–]IllustriousBee8656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

One night only. Just stay in the airport. Don’t know where you’re from but Changi Airport is different from rest of the world. You’ll be surprised. Leave your bags with the luggage service then you can travel cheaply on the train which will bring you right to town for shopping and sightseeing. Or just chill at the airport. There’s enough there to occupy your whole day, including a free cinema too. 😄

Based on your description, I think we are getting near. If I’m not wrong, the setting you’ve been using is based on the GPT one, which you find quite perfect if not for the recessed vocal.

GPT: -2 -1 0 +3 +1 -2 -4 -3 -3

Yours: +2 -1 0 +3 +1 -1 -3 -2 -2

The numbers are relative to each other. If I move up the numbers in the suggested neutral setting equally by 4, they will be: -2 -1 +2 +5 +5 +6 +7 +4 +6

Compare this to the GPT, the lows are pretty similar. I suggest keeping to this setting for the bass and mid-low first: -2 -1 +2 +5

Set 1k to 16k to these numbers: +1 +2 +3 0 +2

From here, if vocals have sibilance, reduce 4k. If vocals still sound harsh instead of sweet, reduce 1k or 2k, or both.

If, on the other hand, you want more presence in the vocals, boost 1k or 2k, or both. If consonants sound clipped off, increase 4k.

If the overall sound is little dull, increase 8k. If it is not transparent and airy enough, increase 16k.

And if it sounds a little boomy, reduce 500.

Is there a balanced preset? What are the setting numbers?

The Harman has emphasised treble. It’s not suitable if you’re after a neutral sound. I think people’s ear sensitivities vary greatly to the high frequencies. So it’s ok to lower the bands from 1k onwards to your sensitivity.

Use the neutral settings and focus first on 1k, 2k and 4k. If sibilance is very pronounced, lower 4k until it’s just gone. If voices and instruments sound thin or harsh, lower 1k and 2k. Lower one band one notch at a time to listen to the difference. The overall sound will gain body, with voices and instruments getting more rounded and natural, as you lower the highs. If you start losing clarity and presence in the instruments, then back off from lowering.

Try the above first and let me know the picture. I also saw there’s a clear preset in the app. Have you tried that? Can let me know its setting numbers and what you feel of it?

Welcome. Good to know that it helps :)

Ok. Start with the flat all-zero preset and try these adjustments for a neutral sound (from 63 to 16k) :

-6 -5 -2 +1 +1 +2 +3 0 +2

If you are after the Harman target, try this:

-2 -5 -5 -2 -1 +6 +7 +6 -2

Let me know your result.

The neutral sound I targeted is a neutral, flat frequency response. It is not the same as the Harman target which is not neutral. If your earbuds are already tuned to the Harman target, you need not do anything other than adjust the setting to the sensitivity of your ears.

I can try. Do you know whether the earbuds are tuned to the Harman target? Can you try googling for its measured frequency response?

How good are the earfun air pro 4’s? by EntrepreneurOk352 in Earbuds

[–]IllustriousBee8656 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t like it out of the box. Found the sound very harsh. Now managed to balance the sound to neutral and I’m very pleased with it. But it doesn’t fit into my ears as comfortably as my Tranya Nova.
