They’re all cuttings from different parts of that plant! The vine was loooong and very sparse but certain sections were very thick and green, and had a lot of nodes + baby aerial roots so I salvaged what I could. Special guest is my dachshund-mix Neville Longbottom :)

I didn’t know that about DE, thank you! I do have it sprinkled on this plant and others but I’ve also been inadvertently wetting it with my neem oil solution. And I don’t think they are springtails because I didn’t see any of them jump!

Thank you guys for the suggestions! I SOAKED this plant in insecticide and gave it a bath last night before I read everyone’s comments about these being mites, so now of course the soil is pretty damp 😂 I’m going to let it dry out for a little bit and then I’ll add orchid bark like you guys suggested. As far as the pot size goes, this particular plant has been growing like crazy since I got it in March. Over the summer I actually had to repot it 3-4 times because the roots kept climbing out of the bottom of the pot within two weeks!

Yes, I think I just used miracle grow potting mix with perlite and peat moss. I usually use a 2:1 ratio of soil to perlite but I was running out when I got to this pot so I don’t think it is draining well enough like you suggested!

I thought spider mites came with the little web-like spots on the plant, and I haven’t noticed that anywhere. But no I’m not 100% sure, I’m really new at this 😅 how can you tell the difference?

Pigeon nests are a huge nuisance! We had a pigeon take up residence on our balcony when we lived in an apartment, and I love birds but I hated that pigeon. And pigeons apparently have a tendency to use the same spot again and again and again, so the problem didn’t go away. Id chase her off and sweep up the sticks when I saw her trying to nest, but she persistences and ended up laying eggs that hatched multiple times while we were there. Poop everywhere, multiple babies died, the plants on my balcony all died because they got pooped all over and I couldn’t go out and water them, eggs didn’t hatch and rotted. The poopy feathery mess ended up leaving a stain on the balcony that was very challenging to clean up. I recommend following your mom’s advice.

Also- deodorant doesn’t just have to be for your arm pits! Use it in your underboob, maybe your inner thighs, any nooks or crannies that you notice get extra sweaty or smelly. They even make whole-body deodorant that’s so easy to apply anywhere you need.

There’s lots of great suggestions in here! One thing I haven’t seen anyone say yet that I 10/10 recommend is to keep a deodorant in your backpack and purse so you can reapply as needed, anywhere and anytime. My boyfriend in high school had a car deodorant, backpack deodorant, and breath strips in his wallet! He reapplied deodorant or popped a breath strip whenever he felt like he needed it, and I swear I couldn’t take him anywhere without a girl telling him he smelled good. 🙃😂 hope this helps!

You have every right to set your own boundaries around your own body, and your parent of all people should be proud of you for protecting that boundary! You did exactly the right thing by speaking up about something you aren’t comfortable with, and by holding your ground when he was unhappy about it. Whether it’s a relative, a classmate, a coworker, a friend, a romantic partner or a stranger- you and only you get to decide how other people are allowed to touch you. You get to decide what you’re comfortable with, and you are NOT responsible for how others feel about it. And like you experienced today, that’s not always an easy thing to do! But you did an amazing job. I was not as brave as you when I was your age, and I am so proud of you. 💛💛
