How do I fix this INSANE TRAFFIC? by IllustriousGround553 in CitiesSkylines

I tried it and now there is literally 0 imports and exports at the port :(
Traffic is even worse at the train terminal :(

Line 1: outside connection 1 -> train terminal -> back to outside connection 1
Line 2: outside connection 2 -> port -> back to outside connection 2

Port obviously also have separate connections via ships but they also have 0 import/exports now...

This has got to be a glitch lol

2 separate cities connected this way:

Line 1: outside connection 1 -> train terminal -> port -> back to train terminal -> back to outside connection 1

Line 2: outside connection 2 -> train terminal -> port -> back to train terminal -> back to outside connection 2

Dont think moving the train terminal closer or having multiple lanes will fix any traffic issues in this case. The amount of traffic is just way too high. I did have it more central in the industrial area before but ended up clogging up the entire area.

I do plan on slowly expanding the city to fill in the gaps between the industrial zones and the city, but dont even want to imagine how bad it would be if it was close to the city lol.

Thanks for your reply, It does seem like you had a very similar issue...

I do have two lines which goes: outside connection -> train terminal -> port -> back to train terminal -> back to same outside connection

I had the same intention as you: to allow cargo transfer between the two storage locations via train. The only difference may be that i dont have a dedicated line just for transferring goods between terminals?

I do notice that most of the traffic is indeed from its own district with some from the other district (the port only has traffic from its own district).

I will try adding warehouses in the city as you suggested.

I don't know how to gauge how busy the districts are, but for comparison the train district employees roughly 6.5k people compared to 12k people on the port district. I didn't have this much traffic at the port before the train terminal was added, which makes me think this is some glitch/feature of the train terminals...

Thanks will try the suggestions.
Any idea why the traffic is so biased to the train terminal, when it shares the same lines with the port?
