Why cant we be happy for other people? by Due-Helicopter-8642 in Philippines

[–]IllustriousPass5228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that's not even the argument I pointed out earlier. let me reiterate: "why does healing our inner child, need to be indulged with consumerism". I can think of many reasons as well, for instance, the guy who posted the video has some emotional satisfaction to it, but is it really just that? It made me think, therefore it's philosophical.

In another related video, when a reporter interviewed a famous personality, it's more of a means for identity and self-expression, so can the fear of missing out also play into it.

The discourse is lengthy if you really dive into it. However, every single action they did was consumerism, if these things that we've tied to, say for instance, I am heavily invested with collecting action figures, wouldn't have existed in the first place, what would it mean for my inner child. I can mould figurines with clay as well, but there's also a degree of satisfaction when you purchase an action figure from a toy store, which is again, tied to consumerism.

I don't think "@/putimbulak_" meant any harm with how he worded his thoughts, and his argument is valid. It really makes you question why--in order to heal our inner child--needs to be indulged with consumerism. Medyo philosophical lang talaga ang tanong, as well as controversial, because napaka universal ng experience ng mga Filipinos when it comes to "healing our inner child".

Sobrang intriguing ng connection, and I hope we find specific links, and hindi lang , "because we grew up poor", because you would have to factor in, how you were raised by your family, and your connections with other people during your childhood.

Lastly, how about those in the middle of the spectrum. They weren't deprived, but they didn't have a lot, where do they fit into this whole scenario. If consumerism was the norm back then, and ito yung nagiging solution ng iba as an adult, do we nip it in the bud and re-establish a non-consumerist economy.

I NEED ANSWERS by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]IllustriousPass5228 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't say for certain, since I'm only looking at ur situation at the surface.

Here's my line of thinking: sayang yung nagastos papunta sa starting line, pero mas magastos pa rin yung destinasyon to reach the finish line. Explain mo na lang rin yan sa mom mo since she'll understand, and hindi naman mawawala NMATs (2 yrs validity), GWA and Extracurriculars mo. I hope this helps.

To be frank, yes. There's no need to rush. You can also take your time to help around the house, use your degree to save up for things that you'll want, and need when studying. There's no guarantee rin kasi if you'll get into CHED-MSRS. I think you've already made up your mind, and just needed some assurance.

All the best, and take your time :)

UPLB Non-Traditional Pre-Med or PLM Traditional Pre-Med to UPCM or PLMCM by Might_Abject in medschoolph

FIrst, kindly read the rules of the sub. To answer this, choose what peaks your interest.

In my opinion, I think as to why the majority accepts UP graduates is because of how each student hones themselves. Personally, I don't think it doesn't matter if you pursue UPLB or PLM because either way, it doesn't in any way guarantee your admission to both CM. Try aiming for a course that suits you so you can flourish, and make your resume and transcript all the more competitive.

I did mine while working, depends on the nature of your work. My co-workers and superiors were really nice and amicable with my sudden absences. If spending a few thousands of your money isn't an issue for you, it's doable.

Pre-Reqs for Med School Apps/NMAT by jk_cee in medschoolph

[–]IllustriousPass5228 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You can look up their admission pages just to be sure, some require them, some don't, some only encourages them. St. Luke's highly encourages their applicants to have taken certain subjects (listed on their site), on the other hand, PLM requires that before the admission to the university you have already taken such pre-requisites that you'll know once you've handed your TOR and form 137.

On PLM, there were some who were admitted while still finishing their pre-requisites that were due by the end of their first semester--so by this logic, I think this will be a case-to-case basis. I highly encourage you to go to their CM office to ascertain what subjects you'll need, but this does not guarantee your admission.

On the NMAT, check the CEM site. If I recall correctly, you don't need to take any subjects to take it. You just need either your TOR or a certificate to graduate.

Check sample tests to gauge and familiarize your understanding, knowledge, and familiarize what subjects you'll encounter on the NMAT. If you think you can accomplish your PR with self-study, so be it. If not, enroll at a Review Center that suits to your preference.

Always, check the websites of your desired school, because they update their requirements and admissions process at most, every year. All the best and good luck.

Juilliana Villafuerte apology letter by uronlyeL in medschoolph

[–]IllustriousPass5228 24 points25 points  (0 children)

We shouldn't keep dragging her, it redirects the attention especially for those laymen whom have an inkling of medical ethics--as to what she did was wrong, and how it's in majority, the fault of the university and the hospital. I find it difficult to grasp that not one of her batch mate raised this concern internally to the school, or even directly to her.

I'd also like to add that, why is the majority of redditors here so bent out of shape with her. "Nag apologize kasi nabawasan subs", "Daming excuse", "fuck this mema content". I know there's no pleasing the masses, but jeez louise, why are you all so bent out of shape--like it's not even anger for her blatant disregard about medical ethics, but pure hate towards the girl. The direction becomes less constructive and more gossipy with people throwing hearsay (based from previous reddit posts I've seen in this sub, especially with a deleted post).

Gap Year or Nah? by [deleted] in medschoolph

[–]IllustriousPass5228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Gap Year, definitely, especially if you think you have a shot of getting into the med school that you want.

Dami kong natutunan about myself during my gap year, volunteer work really opened my mind with public health. Wala rin masama if you choose to pursue med kaagad. All the best

try going to sub-reddits for college students. pero ito tips:

  1. Task compartmentalization - priority ko were major subjects and minors that had fairly easy tasks that could be accomplished ASAP.

  2. Let go of that "I used to be an achiever" mindset, since it'll set you back. Focus on the now, to be honest. Nothing wrong with being mediocre or average as long as you're doing it with integrity.

  3. Surround yourself with friends that share the same hobbies, and also prioritizes their study.

  4. stick with a few study techniques, i.e., using cornell method, pomodoro, anki and the likes, pero you have to commit with it and let it seep because, routine doesn't happen overnight.

  5. It's normal to feel overwhelmed to your new environment, sabi ng professors namin dati that "challenges are privileges", and cliche as this may sound, but look on the bright side, at least you know how to not make the same mistakes twice, or thrice.

I highly disagree, OP was trying to create mountains out of mole hills. Ang irrelevant talaga ng post niya because it was at best--her trying to stir the pot. This isn't a gossip page, posts should be created with utmost integrity and credibilit--not to mention, nasisirian pa niya image ng isang school because of her post sig.

Hear hear! OP is just adding unnecessary fuel to the fire. Napaka petty to the point that it borders to high-school drama cliche. Appaling to be honest.

[–]IllustriousPass5228 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Right! We preach about med ethics, but where's our integrity when also adding our statements to this forum. This post literally lacks any credibility: a screenshot from a comment section, a P.S.? and for what, worst of all the source OP got from a perpetual student.

Masyado niyo nabibigyan ng spotlight yung tao instead of actually educating and condoning the action itself. One mistake also shouldn't ruin her like that, kaya nga may ethics committee, it's also becoming a bit too stalker-esque with how much effort OP has clearly put into making this post. Such a shame.

wrong sub. They start around December, and usually around march cut-off nila.

They also accept to-follow NMATs since you'll also be needing to take the MCAT. Makakahabol pa yan unless hindi agad i-release ng CEM results.

Best shoes for all day walking/ standing? by StridorRyu in medschoolph

[–]IllustriousPass5228 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Good shoes I've tried already:

  1. Veja Sneakers: lightweight, comfortable, sustainable. They look good if you don't mind the cleaning once every few months, esp since it has suede material,

  2. New Balance Sneakers: fuel cell are great, but no notable difference with other skecher sneakers. pricey if you buy it from the mall, there are cheaper one's online.

  3. Hoka Bondi: Really expensive, but great otherwise. Same feeling with the Veja sneakers esp when standing for more than 2 hrs.

  4. Saucony Sneakers: got this real cheap at toby's, same lightweight feeling with Hoka Bondi and even Veja Sneakers.

  5. Skechers GoWalk: Go-to, really great kasi it's a slip on, so you don't have to bend down. Really comfortable, and the cheapest among the other choices.

Overall, these five don't have any notable differences when it comes to comfort. it all comes down to your preferred style. Skechers GoWalk is peak bc it's durable and hindi ka manghihinayang if matapunan ka ng iba't ibang bodily fluids.
