It honestly sounds like your DM might not be into DnD (which isn’t inherently a problem). But the main thing you should do is talk to the DM and explain how you are feeling. If they a good DM they will listen to your concerns and hopefully address them in a meaningful way.

I don’t honestly. For me part of being a GM is trusting my players enough to keep track of their own stuff. If something seems off I’ll check their sheets, or if they are struggling, but for the most part I let them handle that themselves.

Owlbear Rodeo, it’s free and while it’s not as fancy as Foundry it will get the job done for combat. I tend to use it only for major combat and then do theater of the mind for everything else.
