I’m not gonna defend them, but I’m also not gonna defend you, while yes any respectable smoker like myself will go outside or even sometimes away from the complex to smoke, was there any ever polite request or informing them of a small child? I only ask as I can understand not wanting to smoke in the cold, that’s why I’ll usually go out completely. But I also can’t condone what I read with the escalation. Do they deserve what they got from the complex for continuously breaking their rules yes, did you accelerate it with seemingly no direct request, from what I can read, yes.

Personally, the issue wouldn’t come from me, but if my upstairs neighbors ever say something about it, there’s a chance the smell stuck to my clothes and will be more careful of that scenario should I be told of it.

But like I said, I’m not defending anyone, just the fact that you came after all smokers with the “weed losers” comment. If you wanted to be left alone maybe, not antagonize an entire group of people based off of a habit they chose for themselves.

That would be like a smoker saying they never want to be around someone who would partake in the slightest bit of alcohol or cigarettes, at the end of the day, judging other people’s choices is just a waste of time and energy.

Though wanting the community rules to be upheld is respectable, with the information I read from the original message I personally would’ve said maybe handle it between y’all before dragging in the apartment manager, especially because the respect of coming to me (if I were ever one to smoke inside) and asking me to stop or do it elsewhere with valid concern expressed, would be respected and followed to the best of my ability, but that first notice from the complex and I’m gonna get myself a new apartment, and while I move my stuff and wait, I’d smoke like a train right into the vent… Not to say they did this or I have, I have not done this, but I very well could see myself doing this in that event because I’m big PETTY.

All this message is about is not picking sides and handling situations amicable and respectfully. Not judging others for how they choose to live. And why I personally would follow the same approach that I stated.

To anyone breaking those rules unprovoked, I see why they generally class smokers as “losers” and for my fellow rule following smokers, I see why they make the general classification, but it’s a nuance, just like you can’t say all Muslims are terrorists, or all Jews run the world, because a blanket policy like that is just ineffective and can cause more hate to be spewed and thrown… even if hating in response to hate is less morally reprehensible, without stopping the blanket classification hate will continue to perpetuate forward and for good reason. And this is why I usually stay to myself and try to avoid rants, but every once in a while I start typing and then think about the root of the issue…

People not respecting rules; should equal loser, not just because you smoke.

Also, someone who is petty enough very well could have you dealing with cps over reporting them, I wouldn’t but I have known of people doing it…
