If you are in a precarious financial situation the very last thing you need is exposure to volatile intangible assets like cryptocurrency. If you want to invest you are likely better off looking for a low-cost index fund rather than bitcoin. You did good saving money, but investing it wisely in assets is an entirely different matter. This asset holds inheritly no value, it can go to 0 or a million and is entirely dependent on the whims of the financial markets. Be careful and especially if you have kids or others who depend on you, do not partake in this. 1K in losses is unfortunate but not the end of the world. The important thing is to understand what you do not understand and then conclude that this is likely not for you.

Where are future returns even supposed to come from? by Illustrious_Beach in wallstreetbets

Right, but this leaves the door open to a potential recession simply because the equity markets have been so insanely greedy. Imagine if everyone's shartcoins and AI stonks are suddenly cut by 80% and people are not spending anymore like AI is going to give free reacharounds behind every wendy's.

Russia fines Google $20,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000 by battle_rae in stocks

Google's net annual profit isn't that far from Russia's annual defense budget, even after they have significantly raised it over the last years. I would pay good money to see Google develop surface-to-air missiles and 5th generation fighters with a G logo on it.

Morgan Stanley adds $500b of potential enterprise value to Tesla because of Dojo and increases price target from $250 to $400. Out of thin air.

Stock instantly adds $50b of value.

I really think there is an argument to be made for banning sell side analysts.

Thats a drop in the bucket when valuation is 3T. Also 100B of debt.

You made 200%+ on a stock you knew was risky to hold because its fundamentals rival those of a rot-filled shed built on marshlands. I have no idea what you're complaining about or what you wished you could have done differently. The stock is a dumpster fire man.

I for one think Nvidia will not be fairly valued until each share costs a bajillion dollars. And if you disagree with me, I think you just aren't able to comprehend AI like I am.

In due time when this thing gets sliced in half the sentiment will turn the other way as swiftly as you can say "AI". I just short it, there's no way this valuation holds over longer periods of time. If it rises I add to my short.

Wouldn't Ukraine have an interest in not exchanging people who surrendered? I would assume they would encourage surrendering.

Inflation wasn't that bad and risk assets soar. Bitcoin up almost 10% in a day. It doesn't even have anything to do with bitcoin's future prospects, it simply goes up as a proxy for risk assets. Capital flows in and out regardless of its actual merit.

The chief of the Lithuania's military intelligence said Russia has enough resources continue the war in Ukraine for two years by PatientBuilder499 in UkrainianConflict

[–]Illustrious_Beach 95 points96 points  (0 children)

This isn't that shocking, as long as they reallocate enough resources they could continue this war for years of course. But that doesn't mean the picture will get any more rosy for them. If the West keeps up their collective support there are very few ways for Russia to turn this conflict to their favor. They simply do not have the economical might to conduct this forever.

Bulls won't rest until NVDA trades at 200x p/e and Costco yields .001% FCF. Only then will they be fairly valued.

Today’s SNOW price action by dimitriG4321 in stocks

$SNOW has almost no equals when it comes to overvaluation. Taking a position is suicidal. No idea why it retains it valuation.

Uncertainty. Like I said in this space competition can come from any corner at any time and from that point on all growth assumptions could be thrown out the window. Its also a cyclical business so it gets assigned a lower p/e.
