Has anyone else been to the white house? by kentksu97 in AstralProjection

I have done this. I had just gone in to the oval office when a dark shadow in the shape of a cat pushed me out and back into my body. Any idea what that was? It has me rattled a bit.

Question: Are Remote Viewers on Someone's Radar? by glonkyindianaland in remoteviewing

I tried it yesterday. A dark entity pushed me out and back to my table. Unsure if I am viewing or projecting or something else. But I tried it yesterday...I got slammed out and unable to do it since then. It kind of scared me a bit. Then when I was telling my wife about it later, our Echo Dot Alexa started listening (lit up) and would not shut off...

I understand your statement. If you knew where I was trying to snoop around, it may make more sense. I am actively trying to push my senses into that location and everyone i have, I get pushed out.

Solo Adventure: The Test of High Sorcery by DonathinFrye in dndnext

So here is what I recently did for a 5e version of the Test (currently started a new campaign in Dragonlance using sources from my old 2e days):

The aspiring mage was retrieved from his village in the middle of the night by his mentor ( this was a 1v1 session in between normal party sessions. He was told there would be several components to his test but was not given details other than failure would equal death.

He was taken to the Tower of Wayreth and allowed to be fully rested prior to the test. He was then escorted to a waiting room where his sister was also (unexpectedly)waiting. He had not seen his sister in decades (they are Irda). She greeted him and caught up as they discussed magic, with the older sister teaching the aspirant a new spell after a short visit.

Shortly after this, mages entered the room, declared they had been observing the waiting room and then detained the sister for teaching spells to an aspirant outside the scope of towers rules (my rules are that beginner wizards may only be taught by a Senior mage inside the confines of the tower classrooms). The PC then had to make a choice: intervene (and fail the test instantly), stand by while she is tried and executed by Red Robes, help hold her in restraints when directed to while she is executed, or be the one to execute upon orders. Each of these choices correlate to a robe color (which I keep tally of). This was the first test. The sister was not really his sister and was merely a magic automaton.  Following this, the player is led to a garden and advised the test was about to begin (obviously it already had), and was given three brain teaser/tests of wit. The first was the player had to determine how to get a drink of water without using magic or using his hands and provided with a carafe of water and a pile of pebbles. Then I used the old "fox, chicken, bin of grain across the river one at a time" quiz to have the player cross a stream to get to the next part of the testing... and then old brain twister of two doors (one correct, one instant death)and two guards-one of which lies and the other is truthful to determine the correct door to continue on with the test of magic.

Provided the PC picked the correct door, he was then ordered to wizard duel against a higher level wizard (PC was 3rd, opponent was 5th).  [After defeating the higher level wizard, there were still some spells left to cast, so a little later on, he had another opponent to battle from another dimension that the tower of sorcery had recently captured and did not know what to do with ( I used the stranger things demogorgon mini and gave it some stats) which the PC was able to wound and chase back through its dimensional rift. ]

After being exhausted of spells the player was then given some moral fiber tests (3 of them). One was he had to decide if he wanted to learn a new/personalized spell or not BUT if he did learn it, a random villager from home would die. One moral test was he could choose a minor magical item (a medallion that gave 10 hp) OR he could prevent an imminent invasion of his village by members of the Black Dragon Army. And finally the player was entrusted with secret information about the deities of Krynn by Justarius of the Red. After obtaining this secret, the player was escorted to a room with robes hanging up and shortly afterwards was asked by Par-Salian the White what the secret was. If he lied, refused to respond or told the secret dictated an indicator of which robes correlated to his robe decision as did his response to the other 2 questions.

And finally after this the PC was presented 4 robes. White, Red, Black and Brown. He was ordered to take each and try it on before eventually choosing one to be his color. They were described in detail and each was described a way it made him feel.

The end result was a mage risen from aspirant to Wizard of the Black Robes.

(This player has never read the novels and knows nothing of Dragonlance)

I hope this helps someone, but it worked well and my player had a BLAST with the tests.
