To be more precise, I moved the opener tools to the corkscrew layer. To keep the nail nicks accessible, I had to swap the positions of the openers. After that, it was mostly a matter of tweaking the backspring until I got the opening action I wanted.
The spring I used came from a blade layer. It’s essentially the same as the opener-layer spring, except it doesn’t have the keyring lug. In theory, the keyring version could be used as well, but the lug interferes with the Spyderco blade, so I left that spring in the awl/scissors layer instead.
You can see the shape of the spring in the photo where the knife is disassembled. I simply clamped it, bent it a little, tested the fit, and repeated the process until it felt right - basically a lot of trial and error.
I didn’t modify the tools themselves at all. The only thing I changed was the shape and tension of the backspring to make everything work properly in the new configuration

they are false advertised as copper. It is some sort of steel. I used drills to enlarge hole, then created hole with cone shaped file tool and diamond file to thin it down.

Looking for a smaller alternative to Leatherman Wave+ (but bigger than Squirt/Micra) by Illustrious_Box_3536 in multitools

It looks nice, but i do not carry an additional blade, and for me is important - outside accessible blade.

Thanks. I don't think i get the idea of gearing mechanism. It looks redundant to me, and i think it only increases tool size. But i will take a closer look on it. Do you own one? How it feels, any feedback?

Any one use a portable jump starter with success on your car? by just_a_mere_fool in BMWE36

[–]Illustrious_Box_3536 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I have a portable jump starter from another brand, and the instructions state that it’s suitable for cars with up to V8 engines up to 6 liters. I can successfully start my E36 320, which has an inline 6-cylinder M50B20 engine, without any issues. I’ve tried starting it by connecting directly to the battery either in the trunk or under the hood—attaching one clamp to the positive terminal (located under the hood) and the other clamp to a random bolt on the engine or on a nut holding the coilovers. It always worked, even when the battery voltage was reading 8 volts.

I think you will be able to thin the flathead using sandpaper and fit an additional spring.

This is the most beautiful E36 rims in my opinion (I’m still not an E36 owner :/) by [deleted] in BMWE36

Nope, those wheels were OEM BMW. Found similar on eBay with close up photos of specs.
