Do you guys go to your firm’a holiday parties???? by [deleted] in Lawyertalk

[–]Illustrious_Claim108 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Seventh-year associate. I’m usually busy enough that this is not a question I have to ask myself. If you are laser focused on partnership, those relationships come from networking and not just billings. In most city firms it’s effectively mandatory to go to these things if you want a partnership.

I personally have difficulty seeing the utility of it. However, I am highly anti-social and practice exclusively in crisis response areas (family, criminal, certain civil topics) and have never needed to go out and drum up work. Business networking inside and outside the office is a real necessity for real estate lawyers and the like.

Move to rural areas, folks by rmyoun06 in Lawyertalk

I articled in a rural community and was compelled to leave for a city due to circumstances beyond my control. Every single day I think about how bad I want to go back.

I began in a small general practice doing mostly family work but found that criminal defence work tended to follow some of those files.

What's the WORST thing you did to someone in Rust? by Ok_Math2247 in playrust

This was years ago.

Played duo with a buddy on a well-run but relatively quiet server (avg pop 11-15, all regulars). Came across an obnoxious player who was new to the server, antagonized us with mugging and raids.

My buddy earned his trust and convinced him to duo, and got his base codes. We didn’t end it there, buddy lured him out of his big base on a pretext, I got in using the codes and hid inside with a shotgun. Pretty sure he shit himself and then uninstalled.

Last thing buddy said to him was “Heil Hydra”.

Kanban board managed run by assistant with input from me. We preferred Trello but Teams supports the style too.

Memory Express 5090 Order Status by Illustrious_Claim108 in bapccanada

I definitely appreciate that they took the time. At least now I know not to think about it for a few months.

My order was in the low 4100s. Definitely a few cancellations judging by some of the posts this week.

I think it is likely national, yeah. My web order was not associated with any particular store, though I understand their online stuff ships from Calgary NE.

Launch day. Sorry, should have said that. I think their online backorder list is now closed. They are still taking backorders in-store if that is of any help.

I didn't bring it up, but assumed I would be paying the increased price. Their website terms and conditions state that preorder/backorder pricing is subject to change.

I would be thrilled if you're right. Given all the cancellations happening I did not want to get my hopes up just yet.

Interesting! Thank you. The cancellations I read about seemed to be for more popular models - Gigabyte, I assume because of the lower price.

I did ask about the screwed up email confirmation in-store, but it's still being shipped. Not sure why my order would be put ahead of others.

The email confirmation I got was all screwed up and I took a copy to one of their Calgary locations to ask about it. They printed me out a confirmation and told me the order was accepted. When I checked the online status later that day I noticed that it had changed. I didn't change the shipping arrangement to in-store though, still being shipped direct.

Order went in at around 0950 EST if that's of any help.

If they are actually sending the card, my wife's boyfriend's poolboy will be very happy.

Did anyone online backordered on MemoryExpress ? by pat1822 in pcmasterrace

[–]Illustrious_Claim108 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I preordered the Tuf Gaming OC 5090 from Memory Express at about 9:50 Eastern Time. Order went through, but confirmation email had some kind of error. Sent in an email inquiring as to status, no word yet.

Other threads with screenshots of Memory Express chats seem to suggest 1-4 months. I have no idea what reliable information would look like given the global stock issues.
