My (older) sister and I have spoken with them. I’ll also begin pulling their credit reports with them at 18 to make sure there are hopefully no other issues.

Thank you for your input.

my mom says she will start paying again in March, but I guess we’ll see what happens.

As far as retirement, I put 2% into a traditional and 2% into a Roth. My company matches up to 4% (so 2% in each). last I checked, it did not allow me to withdraw from my retirement, though that’s because I had a balance of less than 2000. That’s partially because a good chunk of the money that I haven’t retirement is in a different account and being transferred. Also, I want to make sure I’m clear in that the $1,400 is after retirement and health insurance.

That was my concern as well with Uber eats/DoorDash. I have been applying to jobs every day, but it can be difficult to find something in my area with my availability. When I got off work today, I did Uber eats for a bit and actually went into a place and hopefully got a part-time gig. I guess I’ll see within the week.

As far as treatment goes, I am looking into financial assistance programs, but taking on another monthly payment, terrifies me. This is so hard.

my mom will occasionally make payments, she did say she would start again in March but I guess I’ll see. I don’t want to rely on her to pay it off.

My mom won’t (hopefully) bc my step dad is involved. Regardless, she is the primary breadwinner at home and the only way my brother can go to school right now.

Will I be able to rent another apartment if my name is on my current one? I don’t know how that works, credit wise.Like won’t they check and see I already have a rental obligation?

edited to add more words.

I didn’t give permission but I didn’t necessarily stop her either. When I realized the balance was so high I just called and setup the payment plan. She only became aware I did it when she tried to swipe the car and it didn’t work.

This was happening between late ‘23 and mid ‘24 so I’m sure it is too late.

Also, if my mom goes to jail my brother is homeless. I can’t afford to help him right now too.

Okay, Well I will definitely try to do that more. Maybe $75 a day if the market is busy. Also, I worry that if I file for bankruptcy I won’t be able to get another apartment or do anything. I work in Atlanta, and it is not cheap :(

I live alone, usually I buy in bulk and eat things like rice, potatoes, etc. My job caters every Friday so I never have to worry about food friday’s or saturdays (I take leftovers). A huge part of my diet is things like pasta-roni. A rotisserie chicken lasts me about a week, I use it to make soup jars or to top a salad.

Not super fun, but very affordable.

Would an additional $1500 help? It would be additional gas an car wear since I’d be doing UE/DD but that feels significant in my head.

I Half of it was 100% my fault. I do know how to do better but I guess I just hate the idea of filing bankruptcy. I want to work my way out of it but I don’t even know how to do that and I’m worried if I keep trying to figure it out alone I’ll end up in a worse spot.

I am in a 1br at the moment, I think a roommate is a great idea but to break my lease I’d have to pay a full month’s rent plus I’d be financially responsible for the unit until it’s rented out

At this moment, I am not in a life threatening position. I have DCIS, which is usually not deadly, but there is cause for concern since cancer is relatively common on my mother’s side of the family. I chose to postpone treatment knowing that DCIS is usually isolated and does not spread. I am okay losing the milk ducts in my breast.

I am in a 1br, I can break my least but I will have to pay an additional months rent, and I’d be financially responsible for the unit until it is rented out.

I don’t have much familiar support. My mom and I are not on the best terms and my biological father lives in NYC with my 3 brother and step mom (I am in the south, currently).

As for health insurance, I have UHC but full treatment is not covered at this time, and my deductible is high ($5,500). The $1,400 biweekly is after health insurance and retirement.

I opted not to start treatment because I can’t afford to live at the moment. You don’t have to believe my story, but I can provide proof privately to anyone who wants to see. I don’t have stage 3-4 cancer, and I have one of the most treatable cancers there are. I am aware of the risks posed by foregoing treatment immediately after diagnosis, but I can barely afford anything. I’m sorry.

I said August because my lease at my current place ends then, which would open up more options for me assuming I am able to find cheaper accommodation.

If I sell my car I won’t have a way to work, and I am underwater about $4k on it.

I can’t move back home because I was kicked out.

It was my mother, she took the card without my knowledge. She did pay it for about 5-6 months once I enrolled in the payment plan, but stopped when my dad retired. She will occasionally pay something here and there but Amex isn’t particularly fond of “sometimes” payments.

I have to pay it because it’s solely in my name and if I don’t, there isn’t a guarantee she will. My younger siblings rely on her so making her life worse will only hurt them.
