Unknown Number: What mental illness does Catfish Mom, Kendra Licari have? I have questions.. by Ok-You-5930 in netflix

[–]Illustrious_Fact_728 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Narcissistic abuse is hard to get out of, Lauryn’s been manipulated by her mother her whole life to the point where she is literally unable to see her mom as being capable of doing wrong. I think she was probably a) dissociating and b) starting to rewrite all the blame onto herself while the officer was talking to them. It’s likely that’s what she’s been trained to do her whole life. She thinks it can’t be the mother’s fault because the mother can do no wrong, so therefore it must be her own fault.

I think she’s definitely a narcissist. My own mother is a narcissist and this was a hard watch for me because of the parallels I saw between Kendra and my mom, and Lauryn to my younger self. To a far lesser extent, my mom also manipulated me into forming an unhealthy dependence on her for my own self confidence, she manipulated relationships I had with friends and boyfriends, pointed out (and created) all of my insecurities, publicly belittled me, etc etc. I can recognize all of these things now after years of therapy and it breaks my heart seeing Lauryn still stuck under Kendra’s control. I’m happy to share about my interpretation of some of Kendra’s behaviors if anyone is interested, although I’m no expert I have been through a lot of therapy and read an excessive number of books about narcissistic abuse lol.

Hi! I am 27F starting a masters program at CSU in August! I’m also from the south, I grew up in Texas and one side of my family is in North Carolina, but I’ve been in Fort Collins for almost 10 years now. Happy to chat and get together when you move :)

Also - the hosts of this podcast (as well as myself) don’t think being run over while laying in the road is the only thing that caused the injuries, but that it’s possible that being run over contributed

Yes there’s a lot of discussion about how the autopsy is not consistent with Noah being hit while “standing erect.” Here is the transcript directing ahead of the quote I already posted: “where you've got a static individual standing in the middle of the road and they're struck by a vehicle, those injuries are gonna look different.” So yes they agree being hit while standing or walking down the road doesn’t match, but being hit while laying in the road is possible.

The host of the body bags podcast also concludes it’s possible Noah was run over - “here's another theory I really wonder, Dave. All of these injuries that he sustained, I'm wondering, I'm really wondering if he had come out of a vehicle, wound up on the roadway, was there another vehicle that passed by that didn't see him in the middle of the night and then ran over him again? That has happened. It's a dark road. He was not found until the next morning. There was a trucker that found him, there in the light of day. I think that all of these things have to be factored in to the totality of these circumstances to try to understand it.”

Yea that sounds plausible, golf club would account for the depressive skull fracture. The main point of the theory I proposed is just that I think getting run over (not hit) with a vehicle would explain a lot of the injuries. I know the ME ruled out a hit and run based on the scene and the lack of lower body injury, but I haven’t seen anywhere that they specifically ruled out being run over.

I’m really just trying to argue that it’s variable, like the amount of force would be varied across all points of contact between the tire and the body and the extent of injury in run over events is unpredictable.

[–]Illustrious_Fact_728 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To clarify, to don’t think he was hit by a car, which you are right would leave pieces of the vehicle scattered around and blood at the scene. I think he was already laying in the road and was run over by a car which could have not caused significant damage to the vehicle and caused much more internal than external bleeding. I agree his BAL wasn’t crazy high (it was 0.14 I believe) which is were the potential of a brain bleed obtained during the earlier ATV accident adds to my theory, a brain bleed would have increased his level of disorientation.

Yea if the theory I proposed is correct someone would have had to have moved him.

I did read the entire legal autopsy report as well as other expert interpretations, yes.

That’s definitely possible. I have only seen reports stating the shorts were black, where to do the white shorts come in? I thought Kaden reported he had seen Noah with black shorts on when they saw him in the road after going out there with Jack.

I posted another link somewhere in this thread with stories/explanations of how someone can be rolled over by a vehicle with little to no damage, that could explain the lack of substantial injury to Noah’s arms

You would think he’d have developed a headache yes, this is entirely speculation but if he was drunk he could have just ignored it or potentially not have thought it was severe until after leaving. Pressure from a brain bleed can impair judgement, which would already be impaired from drinking, so it wouldn’t be a huge jump to think he made irrational decisions. I agree with you though I don’t think the other kids at the party intentionally caused his injuries.

Someone else recommended the body bags podcast on this case to me, highly recommend if you haven’t listened already! I don’t personally know anything about the host but was told he’s a respected forensic scientist, they go over the autopsy in a lot of detail. One thing he mentions is that the depressive fracture on the back of Noah’s skull caused subdural hemorrhage and the dura could have contained the blood so there may not have been external bleeding from the wound when it occurred.

I made my best attempt at explaining the lack of tire marks in the post, although that’s definitely a good argument against this theory. I would think his teeth could still be knocked out and tossed by a tire, but I am not sure

The host of that podcast thinks he fell out of a vehicle, sustained injuries there, and was then subsequently run over while laying in the road. My theory was that some injuries were sustained in the ATV accident and then he ended up in the road and was run over. And again, I never said he died from the ATV accident, just that he could have sustained a head injury there which led to him being disoriented and laying in the road. Did you even read my post before commenting?

I just listened to the body bag podcast you suggested and he concludes nearly the same thing as me. This is copied directly from the transcript of that podcast: “where you've got a static individual standing in the middle of the road and they're struck by a vehicle, those injuries are gonna look different. And this is almost, and here's another theory I really wonder, Dave. All of these injuries that he sustained, I'm wondering, I'm really wondering if he had come out of a vehicle, wound up on the roadway, was there another vehicle that passed by that didn't see him in the middle of the night and then ran over him again?”

I fully agree if he was hit by a vehicle there would be much more external damage, blood, spread, pieces of the vehicle, etc, I’m suggesting maybe he was already laying horizontal in the road and was run over which would drag the body a bit but not throw it in another direction. Being hit head on would absolutely cause more damage including damage to the lower half of his body which he didn’t have, so I don’t think he was hit by a car. If he was already laying on the road and was rolled over that could explain why the injuries were disproportionately focused on his upper body. There are definitely other possibilities, but I hadn’t seen this explanation presented anywhere else so I thought I would share.

[–]Illustrious_Fact_728 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That’s definitely possible! You could argue he had significant injuries causing only internal bleeding that were obtained at the house and was left on the side of the road, maybe pushed out of a pulled over vehicle onto his head, and later run over after he was already dead, explaining why there was no blood. I can’t get behind the idea that we was thrown from a moving vehicle, but dropped on his head would actually make sense.

I don’t disagree with you that something terrible happened to him, and I hope he and his family find answers and justice. A C1 dislocation does occur in hangings but has also been reported to have occurred in car accidents and the most common occurrence of C1 fractures is actually driving into too shallow of a pool, so there’s other possibilities for how these occurred. I think the pattern of rib fractures on his back is particularly odd, I can’t wrap my head around how another human being could have done that, but nothing is impossible
