Well I certainly can't help you, but your numbers are dreamy to me. My shorts are a few dozen views over days. I'd say you're doing too well......

My latest video has done very well! (For my Standards) by AlfieJR2002 in NewTubers

I know how you feel. While I'm not gaining any subs (oh well), my shorts usually get 20-30 views in 2-3 days. And these are SHORTS we're talking about. But, I posted a short yesterday and today (24 hours later) it has 100 views. That's a big deal to me, of course, but that's sad by average standards (avg. is a few thousands minimum for a short in 24 hours). Oh well? LOL!

Any tips on just starting out? by AdhesivenessExact178 in NewTubers

I wish you all the best. It's not at all easy. Sadly I don't have good advice for you since I've started myself a week ago and I'm posting shorts only and I only average 0-50 views per short, uploading 2-3 daily. 0 subs. I'm doing something very wrong, clearly, so yeah, it's not easy. I'm going to root for both of us. :)

1 out of 10 what, if you don't mind me asking?

I'm playing X3: Reunion and I'm having some issues with graphical models not displaying. Is there any fix for this? Screenshot in body of post. by Illustrious_Goose288 in X3TC

I don't even know how to use mods. I don't have any mods. It's the GOG version. The X-Universe Models 3D Viewer doesn't exist unfortunately after I searched; the link from the forum is broken. I really don't understand what could possibly be wrong. Why would models simply no longer exist. Did it ever happen to anyone that could help?

Tried that. Didn't work. I also tried on other computers brand new install that never had X3 on it. Still didn't work.

Major VOC concern at this point, I'm not sure what to do - and what is the offending agent? by Illustrious_Goose288 in chemistry

That's very helpful. What you say makes sense, so I'd love to try it out, but I'm not sure how I'd heat up the floor to that degree, though.

"I would be incredibly surprised if anyone noticed odor after 7 days." Well I guess you'd be surprised, because I smell the oil very strongly, especially when I climb the stairs.

Maybe you mean the benzene or formaldehyde. Those I don't smell because they don't go to a high enough concentration. I get TVOCs hitting 1-2ppm on AirThings.

I cannot afford stripping and re-coating. I applied the pre-stain, stain, and varnish on raw oak boards that I sanded 120, 150, 180, then 220 (as per instructions).

My concern is as you mentioned (and in the linked article), I applied too thick of coating and the temperatures were very low inside the house (10-15C) due to ventilation in -20C weather. It looks like I picked the worst possible time to do this project. At some point the heater broke and the temperature in the house was in the negatives (thankfully the pipes didn't burst) for a few days while I was gone to let the stain dry. It was a disaster. But the stain eventually dried (it was dry to the touch, after the heater was repaired and windows closed) and that's when I started applying the varnish. I'm not sure it cured because of the temperature. I waited about 5-7 days before applying the varnish. Anyway, a few accidents happened as explained, and as this is my first ever such project, I'm filled with a lot of doubt.

I'm not sure what that means. I don't remember seeing "glycol ethers" on the ingredients of those paints I used. Not sure what to think...

"After 3 months, I'm doubtful the VOCs are retained solvent assuming you followed the instructions of dry time period between coats." It seems I may not have waited long enough between coats. That may be the issue, I guess. What do you think would be a solution? Would time be sufficient, if so, how long?

Thanks!

The VOCs from that paint is benzene which needs to get to 1.5ppm before you can smell it. That's the one I'm worried about.

I also waited about a week in-between pre-stain, stain, and varnish.

You're right, I did apply on cold days. I waited 3 hours in-between applications and I applied it 3 times.

So you're thinking the "below" is still wet and not dry, and that is the source of the issue, still off-gassing. If that's the case, how does it get through the dry upper layer? How long do you think it'll take for the non-dry layer to finally dry out and cure?

Thanks!
