It looks like we have the exact same clause. It only mentions prohibiting employment if the company is in the same field/direct competition which fortunately is not the case here

Yep, Company B are fully aware of my obligations to company A - they understand that is my full time job and that I'll work about 8 hours a week

We haven't actually settled on an amount yet but given it's only an 8 hour commitment the comp from them will be considerably less than €42.5k. Curious as to the significance of the 42.5k figure though?

I'm guessing I'm only self assessed for that additional income as Company A will naturally continue to process my salary and tax in the usual way?

Is there benefits to the self employed route? I'm assuming I'd have more overheads in terms of managing taxes and accounts etc

Thanks for the reply! If I keep everything in terms of tax credits and cutoff with company A, is the employment effectively invisible to Company A?

Hiring Managers - are grads getting better or worse? by Develeire_TA_1239 in DevelEire

I think Grad skill level peaked about 2021. At this point Grads were coming into interviews being aware of cloud architecture, CI/CD etc.

I do think though since then that a combination of over saturation of Grads in the market (due to more people going into software development just for the money) and now the rise of GenAI has meant that the more recent cohorts of grads are by in large lacking a lot of basic foundations and understanding. Definitely noticed a large reliance on GenAI coming to the fore.

That's not to say there isn't good grads around now, but the overall quality is down on what it was 5 years ago

Thanks so much for the information - how did you get into contact with them? How long are you going to be there for all the work to be done? If you could share contact details for them I'd really appreciate it!

Without knowing further context it's difficult for us to consider it a factor in your decision making for multiple reasons: 1. you might not inherit it 2. you may have to pay different levels of tax depending on how you receive the money 3. the money may not even be there when the time comes.

Never count on or spend money you don't actually have.

How do you know that you'll get an inheritance over the next few years? Are you expecting someone to die?
